WebSphere Application Server v7 - Base Installation

Installation & Configuration Document

1. Start the websphere application server launchpad

2. Open windows explorer and navigate to install directory

3. Run (double-click) launchpad.exe

4. On the welcome page that is displayed Launch the installation wizard for the websphere application server

The Welcome panel appears click Next to continue the installation

On the Software license Agreement panel, click I accept both the IBM and the non-IBM terms to accept the license agreement

and click Next

The installation will now do verification on system prerequisites. When the check is complete the System Prerequisites Check

panel will appear

- If the check detects any incorrect prerequisites, a warning page is then displayed. If the check finds the

installation of an existing instance you are then given the opportunity to add features to the existing instance,

install a new copy, or perform and upgrade of the existing instance.

If the prerequisite panel appears passed Click Next to continue with the install

The optional feature allows for the install of sample applications these are not needed, do not select any options. Click Next to

continue

On the installation panel, change the installation directory for websphere. Click Next to continue

- D:\IBM\Websphere\AppServer70

The websphere Application server Environments panel appears. Select Application Server from this list

In the Administrative Security Panel you need to select Enable administrative security and enter a username and password,

click Next

o For Username = wasadmin

o Enter a password

Review the product to be installed and summary information from the Installation Summary Panel. Click Next to start the

installation.

Click Next

After the installation Is completed, the installation results panel appears.

On the Software license Agreement panel, click I accept both the IBM and the non-IBM terms to accept the license agreement

and click Next

1. On the installation panel, change the installation directory for websphere. Click Next to continue

o D:\IBMIHS70

On the Specify the Web server port enter 80 and HTTP Admin Port enter 8008

Run as Service

Click Next through the Review information panel

Click Finish to exit

Fix Pack Installation

Update Installer

The Update Installer for WebSphere Software to install interim fixes, fix packs, and refresh pack. This needs to be

run on both the application server and the web server.

Update Installer Manual

1. Download, unpack, and install the Update Installer for WebSphere Software from the IBM Support site o Make sure to download the newest Update Installer for each Fix pack

2. Run the install.exe from the extract folder

The installation wizard initializes and displays the Welcome panel Click Next to continue

The Installation directory panel is displayed. Specify the destination of the installation root directory. Select Create a start

menu icon to create a shortcut for the Update Installer Click Next to continue

o D:\IBM\Websphere\AppServer70\UpdateInstaller

The Installation summary panel appears. Review the summary. Click Next to begin the installation

The Installation results panel is displayed Click Finish

o If you want to launch the Update Installer upon completion of the installation, select Launch Update Installer for WebSphere Software on exit

Apply fix pack and interim fixes on each Server Run Update Installer Program Start IBM Websphere Update Installer for

Websphere V7.0 Software Update Installer

Click Next

Select Directory Path Drop Down (AppServer) Click Next

Choose Install maintenance package Click Next

Choose Directory path were fixpacks are located (.pak) Click Next

Click Next

Click Next

Click Finish

Start All Application Servers

1. Download the most current version of the interim fix, fix pack, or refresh pack file from the Support site into the maintenance directory. (only needed on remote web server)

2. Run Update Installer Program Start IBM Websphere Update Installer for Websphere V7.0 Software Update Installer

Click Next

Choose Install maintenance package Click Next

Choose Directory path were fixpacks are located (.pak) Click Next

Click Next

Click Next

Click Finish

1. Download the most current version of the interim fix, fix pack, or refresh pack file from the Support site into the maintenance directory. (only needed on remote web server)

2. Run Update Installer Program Start IBM Websphere Update Installer for Websphere V7.0 Software Update Installer

Click Next

Select Directory Path Drop Down (Plugins) Click Next

Choose Install maintenance package Click Next

Click Next

Click Next

Click Finish

Start All IBM HTTP server
