ELA -14% -13

Math -7% -19

Status Targets (Appendix A of the Comprehensive Guide) are recalculated for Standards 1 and 2 in ELA and Math.

Districts did not suddenly get worse due to

new, more rigorous

assessments.

2018 is a new baseline year.

QUESTIONHow to adjust?

Recognizing there needs to be

a nuanced approach.

ANSWERAdjusted status

targets so results are equated to

the last period of consistent

standards and assessments.

What is the relationship between MPI and NCE?Need to know the NCE for three MPIs, which are all transitions: Floor to Approaching (299 – 300) Approaching to On Track (363 – 364) On Track to Target (385 – 386)

Example of OLD Targets from 2017 Comprehensive Guide

The question is, “What were the NCEs of these MPIs in 2013?”

Once those NCEs are known, then go to 2018 and find the MPIs for the known NCEs, “What is the MPI for the NCEs of interest identified from 2013?” NCE at transition points in 2013

MPIs of those NCEs in 2018

It is important to note that the 2018 MAP/EOC exams in ELA and math were the fourth different state assessments in the past five years. The four different assessments also covered two different sets of learning standards. For this reason, past years cannot be compared. Data from 2018 will be considered baseline assessment data moving forward.

** WG is in the process of realigning when the American Government EOC is given, therefore very few students took the assessment during 2017-2018. When this happens, the state pools the previous three years of data to determine the MPI score.
