Wedding Music OutlineEthan Schneider, piano/cantor
I’ve included links to some of the hymns so that you can get an idea of how the melody sounds.
Prelude:I usually begin playing 20-30 minutes before the ceremony depending on when
guests begin arriving.
Grandparents/Parents:I need to know the number of Parents and/or Grandparents so that I can determine
the length of music needed. This is not technically part of the Mass, so we can basically do any music that we want here. Here are some pieces that are traditionally played for the procession:
Jesu, Joy of Man’s Desiring – Bach Trumpet Voluntary – Clark Canon in D – Pachelbel
Bridal Party:I need the number of Bridesmaids to estimate amount of music here. The list
above applies to this part as well.
Bride Entrance:Bridal March – Wagner
This is the “Here comes the Bride” tune that is traditionally played.
Gloria: Check with Father to see if this will be included in the mass. If so, will be sung.
First Reading: You will need a reader for this.
Responsorial Psalm:Psalm and Verses will be sung. Here are a few suggestions to choose from:
The earth is full of the goodness of the Lord (Psalm 33:12, 18, 20-21, 22) I will bless the Lord at all times (Psalm 34:2-3, 4-5, 6-7, 8-9) The Lord is kind and merciful (Psalm 103:1-2, 8, 13, 17-18) Happy are those who do what the Lord commands (Psalm 112:1-2, 3-4, 5-7, 7-8,
9) Blessed are those who fear the Lord (Psalm 128:1-2, 3, 4-5) The Lord is compassionate to all his works (Psalm 145:8-9, 10, 15, 17-18) Let all praise the name of the Lord (Psalm 148:1-2, 3-4, 9-10, 11-12, 13-14)
Second Reading: You will need a reader for this.
Gospel Acclamation: From the Mass of Renewal by Curtis Stephan

Refrain: Alleluia Verse: You need to pick this as well. Here are a few suggestions:
1 John 4:8, 11God is love;let us love one another as God has loved us. 1 John 4:12 If we love one another,God will live in us in perfect love. 1 John 4:16 Whoever remains in love, remains in God and God in him. 1 John 4:7bEveryone who loves is born of God and knows him.
Lighting of the Unity Candle: If you are doing a unity candle, this usually follows the marriage rites. We can choose to sing any hymn or maybe just something instrumental. Remember that this is usually a brief moment, so you don’t want a long piece that will force you to stand by the candle until the song concludes.
Presentation of the Gifts: We need to choose a hymn for this moment.
Once you have the readings and Gospel picked, I can offer suggestions based on those. Here are a few other suggestions:

Faith, Hope and Love https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=e6_DlVjTwto

Sanctus: From the Mass of Renewal by Curtis Stephan
Mystery of Faith: From the Mass of Renewal by Curtis Stephan
Amen: From the Mass of Renewal by Curtis Stephan
Agnus Dei: From the Mass of Renewal by Curtis Stephan
Communion Hymn: Depending on how many people attend the mass, we may need to choose two hymns. Again, we can also choose a hymn that is based on the Gospel. Here are some other suggestions:
One Love Released http://www.ocp.org/products/30116714
Taste and See (Moore) https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=a1R-OrDmF70
Any of the hymns listed with the Presentation of Gifts would work here as well.
Presentation of Flowers to the Blessed Mother:If you plan to do this, usually we pick a hymn that has to do with the Blessed Mother. Ave Maria, On This Day O Beautiful Mother, Immaculate Mary, etc.
Recessional: Because this is the last part of the service, this should be big and celebratory. Here are a couple of the more traditional options:
Wedding March – Mendelssohn
Ode to Joy – Beethoven
Of course, we can also choose to do something completely different and non traditional if you wish.
