Welcome to the Memorial Hall Theatre, Thank you for considering the Memo for your wedding day and may we congratulate you on your forthcoming marriage. We would like to invite you to come and view our facilities, we encourage personal visits in order that you can discuss your day in detail and ask any questions you may have. The Memo caters beautifully for intimate and grand gatherings and has a long and valued reputation for being a unique venue for wedding receptions, celebrations, civil wedding ceremonies and cultural wedding blessings. Please call to arrange an appointment with our Wedding Co-ordinator who will give you a personal tour and more information about the venue and our services. Civil Marriage and Partnership Ceremonies

The Memo is licensed for Civil Marriage and Partnership Ceremonies

To have your legal Wedding or Civil Partnership Ceremony at the Memo, first contact the Vale of Glamorgan Superintendent Registrar

to book the date and time you require. Then, subject to the availability of the venue, the Memo can arrange a booking of one of our

licensed spaces.

Legal civil ceremonies must be non-religious in content, so cannot include hymns, religious readings or prayers. Although the law

does not allow you to have any religious music or readings whilst the registrar is present, the scope for secular music, poetry and

prose during the ceremony is limited only by your own imagination.

We are able to help you decorate the Ceremony space and can also help you to arrange music for the service. Bookings for most of

these additional services can be made through the Memo, but it should be noted that the services of the Registrar must be made

directly with the Registry Office Vale of Glamorgan on 01446 709490

Room Maximum Guests Room Hire

Glamorgan Suite 200 £80.00

The Memo room hire includes all furniture build and registrar signing

table for a maximum of a four hour period. Please note that the room hire

price stated does not take into account any fees charged by the Vale of Gla-

morgan Superintendent Registrar.

Civil Marriage and Partnership Ceremonies Guidance

Guidance on how you proceed if you wish to hold a civil wedding ceremony with us:

• When you have made provisional arrangements with us for your marriage you should contact the Superintendent Registrar for our district in which our premises are situated: Vale of Glamorgan Register Office 01446 709490 • Without the presence of this Superintendent Registrar and a Registrar there can be no marriage and any arrangements for

the use of our premises depends entirely on their availability. It is, therefore, essential that you make an advance booking with this Superintendent Registrar for their attendance at their proposed marriage as soon as a booking can be

accepted. A fee for this attendance will be payable to the Vale of Glamorgan Registrars Office. • The Bride will also have to give notice of marriage to the Superintendent Registrar of the district in which they live. This no-

tice must be given in person by each of the couple and is valid for the twelve months. The couple should, therefore, attend the register office (s) where they live as soon as notice can be given. There is a fifteen day waiting period after notice has been given before the marriage can take place. • If either of the couple is subject to immigration control, there will be further procedures to take before notice of marriage

can be given. The local superintendent registrar can advise further on these procedures. • The couple should be warned that any arrangements made for a marriage to take place on the approved premises are dependent on: the attendance of the superintendent registrar and a registrar for the district; and the issue of the civil

partnership schedule by the registration authority for the area in which the premises are situated • The couple should be advised that only the civil, non-religious registration can be permitted by the civil partnership registrar. The contents of any proceedings must be agreed in advance by the civil partnership registrar who will be attending the registration. • Any rights of copyright for music, readings etc, permitted at the registration are a matter for the couple and the holder of

the approval.

Thank you so much for all your help in making the day so great. I think the entrance was brilliant, it really took people by surprise and the Caribbean food was lovely - I hope you and your staff managed to get some! A special thank you to the staff who were so good during the set-up and helped things to run smoothly.

They had a pretty large wedding with well over 200 guests. The reception was held in the Barry

Memorial Hall in Wales, where Rhian is from. Rhian said "it had sentimental appeal as I had been in school plays there, had ballet lessons there, and attended teen discos and pantomimes.

It was also fun to get married on the stage, and the "Memo" as it is known, is a bit of a Barry institution."

When I spoke to Rhian about why she felt her 1950s vintage wedding was different, she said "Once the guests were seated cabaret-style at their tables, the lights were dimmed and our MC introduced Roy and I in the style of a Vegas boxing announcer, ending with: "And now, for the thousands here in attendance

and the millions who wish they could be here, from the Barry Memorial Hall, let's get ready to rumble!!" Our MC then cued the music and my Dad walked me down the aisle between the tables to the Rocky theme tune, whilst Roy shadow boxed and generally messed about showing off on the stage. I loved this

moment... I could see Roy waiting for me, and all our guests stood up and started clapping. Once the ceremony was over, we walked out to the song "99 Problems" by Jay-Z. Our first dance began

as Corinne Bailey Rae's "Trouble Sleeping", and our DJ mixed in Color Me Badd's "I wanna sex you up"... A small, low key, elegant wedding was not going to suit us. Instead we ended up with a big, cheesy, fun, but still very special day."

Terms and Conditions

It is only fair that you should be aware of our Wedding Terms and Conditions should you book your wedding with us.

Please read these carefully, along with the General Terms and Conditions of our venue hire.

• From April 2012 the following points of information applies to all Wedding Ceremonies and Receptions taking place at the Memo. • Please note that all prices are valid from 1st April 2012 to 31 March 2013. • We advise that you take out Wedding Insurance to cover cancellation, theft, damage or injury during or leading up to your wedding day. • As there may be more than one wedding taking place on any given day, adherence to set-up, arrival and ceremony times is important. • Please ensure that your Wedding or Civil Partnership Ceremony is confirmed with the Superintendant Registrar before confirming a booking with us. • It is a condition of booking that if an evening reception is booked, that a buffet (either through Memo hospitality or external caterer) be provided for the total number of guests attending. • Children attending events at the Memo must be supervised at all times by a responsible adult. Please refer to the General Terms and conditions regarding young children in licensed bar areas. • Guests who behave in an unreasonable manner or are disruptive to staff or other guests will be asked to leave the premises. • We do not offer a corkage facility, clients are not permitted to bring their own alcohol onto site nor do we allow miniature bottles of spirits to be used as favours.
