Application for a Wedding LicenseApplication for a marriage license must be made to the nearest Registraror District office in Fiji at least 3 working days prior to the marriage.

Special arrangements can also be organized to suit your travel plans.

Document RequiredThe couple must provide the following personal documents to theregistrar for verification purposes at least two weeks before the wedding:

Original birth certificate

Valid passport

Divorce papers, if applicable

Death certificate if previous spouse is deceased

A certificate of Single Status or certificate of no Legal Impedimentmust be produced ONLY IF:

I. Marriage between a Fiji citizen and a foreign citizen

II. Marriage by former citizens of Fiji

III. Marriage between foreign citizens residing in Fiji

Marriage applicants from Japan must produce the koseki-shouhon tocertify their personal details

6 - 12 Months Decide upon the number of guests etc. and draw up a budget

Decide upon your chosen hotel /resort and check the availability of the venue

If you are planning to have a hen or stag night, why not also do it in Fiji

Discuss with the wedding coordinator of the chosen venue - form of wedding services required; choice of minister, priest or celebrant; and the style and /or

colour theme for your wedding

Contact the people you would like as your best man, groomsmen, bridal attendant,etc.

Draw up a provisional guest list

Decide whether you wish to take a photographer/vidographer from home to record

your wedding

Begin the search for the wedding gown. If you decide to have one made, choose thedesigner or dressmaker. Traditional modern gowns can also be purchased through

our local bridal designers

Decide whether you want to have supplementary flowers sourced from home

- if so, choose a florist

Choose whether you wish to have your honeymoon at a differenthotel/resortor on a cruise

3 - 5 Months

By now the wedding gown should be organized /purchased, the style of the groomssuit chosen and the suit itself booked or purchased

Best man and groomsmen suites, attendants dresses etc. should be organized

Finalise your guest list
