James M. Olson - Former Chief of CIA Counterintelligence

Born in LeMars, Iowa. B.A. (mathematics and economics), University of Iowa. J.D. (international law), University of Iowa. Member of Iowa Bar. U.S. Navy (attained rank of Lieutenant Commander, USNR). Career officer in the Directorate of Operations of the Central Intelligence Agency, serving mostly overseas in clandestine operations. Served as Chief of Counterintelligence at CIA Headquarters in Langley, Virginia. Overseas assignments in the U.S.S.R., Austria, and Mexico. Foreign languages: French, German, Russian, and Spanish. Recipient of the Intelligence Medal of Merit, the Distinguished Career Intelligence Medal, the Counterintelligence Excellence Medal, the Donovan Award, and several distinguished achievement awards. Awarded the Silver Star Award at the Bush School for excellence in teaching. Experience in international affairs, economics, trade negotiations, intelligence support to the military and the law enforcement community, counterintelligence, counterterrorism, counternarcotics, and technical collection systems; senior intelligence advisor to several U.S. ambassadors; extensive liaison with the State Department, Treasury Department, FBI, Pentagon, NSC, NSA, DEA, INS, and U.S. Congress. Senior faculty member at the Joint Military Intelligence College, Washington, D.C, 1997; taught courses on counterintelligence and military intelligence. Assigned by the CIA to the George Bush School of Government and Public Service in College Station, Texas, as an officer-in-residence in December 1997. Teaching courses on Cold War Intelligence, U.S. National Security, and International Crisis Management. Frequent guest lecturer at other courses, conferences, and symposia. Appointed a permanent faculty member of the Bush School in August 2000.

Carol Friesen, FHFMA - VP of Health System Services | Bryan Health & National Chairperson | HFMA

Carol A. Friesen, FHFMA is VP of Health System Services, Bryan Health, Lincoln, Nebraska and serves as Chair of HFMA for the 2017-18 term. A member of HFMA since 1999, Ms. Friesen’s involvement with the National Association includes serving as Director for the Board of Directors, the National Advisory Council, Early Careerist Task Force and Region 8 Regional Executive. Ms. Friesen has also served the Nebraska Chapter as Director, Treasurer, Secretary, Vice President, and President. She has received the Follmer Bronze, Reeves Silver, and Muncie Gold merit awards, as well as the HFMA Medal of Honor. Ms. Friesen, a Fellow of HFMA and Certified Healthcare Financial Professional, holds a Bachelor of Science in business management and a Master of Public Health in healthcare administration.

David Williams, CPA, MPH, FHFMA - Partner | HORNE LLP

David is a partner in healthcare services and serves as the leader of healthcare reimbursement and advisory services. With more than 30 years of collaborating with community hospitals, health systems and related healthcare entities, his recent focus is assisting organizations adapt to the evolving care delivery models. He has experience in assessing and re-positioning systems to meet the changing needs in the communities they serve. Given his vast knowledge of federal, state and other reimbursement programs, David spends his time assisting health entities maneuver the complexities of the changing reimbursement systems as they move from a volume based foundation to one that is based upon outcomes and value to the patients and community. He also serves on HORNE’s Board of Directors. David earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Accounting and Master of Public Health Policy and Administration from The University of Southern Mississippi. He is a Fellow of Healthcare Financial Management.

With over 20 years of experience in managed care and financial and revenue cycle operations, Mr. Casteel brings a specialized set of knowledge to the table. Over the years Ed has worked in a multitude of settings including profit, non-profit and academic medical centers. Mr. Casteel holds an MBA from Washington University in St. Louis where he graduated with distinction. Mr. Casteel also earned two bachelors degrees, one Finance and another in Accounting from the University of Oklahoma and Langston University respectively. Murray L. Harber, Executive Director | MS Business Group on Health Murray L. Harber is the Executive Director of the Mississippi Business Group on Health, a coalition of more than 70 Mississippi employers that seek continuous improvement in the quality and cost effectiveness of health and health care through shared solutions. He is a national speaker for several large pharmaceuticals and business organizations on value-based benefit design, employee health management, and maximizing human performance in athletics. Murray has a Bachelor’s of Science Degree in Education majoring in Human Performance and Sports Studies from the University of Tennessee at Knoxville. Murray’s began his career serving as a strength and speed coach before moving into employer-based health center management. He has developed award winning employer health and wellness programs including Southern Farm Bureau Life Insurance Company (SFBLI), the University of Minnesota, Hennepin County, MN, Park Nicollet Health Services, and UAW Ford Motor Company. Mike Skinner, CPA, CISA, CITP - Partner in Charge | HORNE Cyber Recognized by the AICPA as one of the top technology assurance professionals under the age of 40, Mike is the partner in charge for HORNE Cyber. His primary focus is to enable clients to fully leverage technology innovations by providing the insights critical to safeguarding their business, customers’ critical data and brand reputation while gaining return on investment from IT security and regulatory compliance activities. He is responsible for cybersecurity, information technology audit, regulatory compliance and strategic IT advisory. Medicaid Update Michael Daschbach - Office Director for Reimbursement | Mississippi Division of Medicaid Michael is a graduate of Millsaps College in Jackson, Mississippi, from which he holds a degree in business administration, major in accounting. He serves as the Office Director of Reimbursement at the Mississippi Division of Medicaid (DOM) where he is responsible for the reimbursement programs for hospitals, nursing facilities, intermediate care facilities for individuals with intellectual disabilities, psychiatric residential treatment facilities, rural health clinics, federally qualified health centers, home health agencies and dialysis clinics. In addition, he is responsible for the DSH/UPL programs for hospitals, nursing facilities and physicians, as well as CMS required UPL demonstrations.
