The Titans defeated Harris-Lake Park 27 to 20 on Tuesday night and West Bend-Mallard 11 to 8 on Wednesday night. Then on Saturday the Titans won 4 to 2 over Okoboji-Milford and 7 to 4 over a tough Sioux Cen- tral team in the Titans tournament in Terril. This week the Lady Titans were in Emmetsburg on Monday, at Storm Lake on Tuesday, hosting Southeast Valley tonight (Wednesday) in Ter- ril, at Alta-Aurelia on Friday and at the Milford tourney on Saturday at 9:30 a.m. In the win over HLP Hailey Ebel got the win in the circle in a back and forth game that ended with a score that sounded more like a foot- ball game than softball. The Titans were paced at the plate by Macy Alderson who went 2 for 4 with 2 doubles, 2 RBI, 1 stolen base and a run. Emma Kral and Ally Hanson also hit clutch dou- bles in the final two innings to help the Titan cause. In Saturday’s tournament game with Okoboji/Milford GTRA scored 4 runs in the first two innings and that proved to be enough for the Ti- tans to defeat Okoboji 4-2 in the first game of the 3 team tournament held in Terril on Saturday. Hailey Ebel gave up a couple of runs in the sev- enth, but earned her second win of the season as she struck out 3 and is- sued no walks on the day. The Titans scored in the first inning after Kenzie Hoffman tripled on a hard hit ball in the gap and then scored on a passed ball. They would score three more in the second inning after Emma Kral doubled and Sierra Kluever was hit by a pitch to reach base. Emma Baak drove them in with a double of her own and then scored on a SAC fly by Ally Hanson. In the final game on Saturday the Titans played their best defensive game of the year behind Sophie Pe- tersen in the Championship game of the day and took the victory 7-4 over a tough Sioux Central team. Once again the Titans took the lead early and never looked back with all 7 runs coming in the first two innings. Kenzie Hoffman started the scoring in the first with a sacrifice bunt that scored Myla Murphy from second base. Later in the first inning Madi- son Hough would single and score on a hit by Sierra Kluever. STOPPING HIV STIGMA MATTERS LET’S STOP HIV TOGETHER #StopHIVTogether StopHIVIowa.org June 2020 by Jay Schoning I'm gonna make it short and sweet this week - Kandi needs all the room she can get for stuff I gave her for the paper. So much stuff! There was interviews, Graettinger/Terril graduation, baseball, and more stuff I can't even remember! This weekly column is always the "conclusion" to my week at the paper - the place where I got tired thinking! The paper brings me happy times, and not-so-happy times. It was a joy to interview the Neighbors Helping Neighbors project this week and getting a nice pic of the Conlon anniversary. Those stories are so fun to write. But some brings a tear to the eye; even a tired eye from punching a keyboard one million times in a weekend. Such as the cancellation of Bully Bullhead Weekend in 2020 and Terril’s 125th Quasqui. But I am sure it is for the best – and to ensure the safety of our residents. We should hear news on Ayrshire Days this week. But as they say, life goes on, new opportunities arise - and girls, when climbing the ladder of success, don't let boys look up your skirts. Noah was a brave man to sail in a wooden boat with 2 termites. At least I get to enjoy my weekends now without any worry of working at the hos- pital. Parking lots are all painted up and I shouldn’t have a weekend again until the snow flies – so it better be a long long looonnngggg time! Friday night I traveled to Ida Grove for a family graduation. I was talking to a farmer near Odebolt who said they had 4 and a half inches of rain the night before. I told him about our hail storm that hit southeast of Milford forcing my brother to replant 350 acres of soybeans. We both agree that Iowa is perty unpredictable – but we like it that way. I guess it would be boring in San Diego listening to the same old ‘high today 78’ over and over and over. Here in Ioway, whatever you hear the weather predictor say will change in an hour anyway! Yep, time flies when its summer in Iowa! Summer break: Where u drink triple, see double, and act single. If quitters never win, and winners never quit, what fool came up with, "Quit while you're ahead"? I want to express my Best Wishes to the Graettinger/Terril Class of 2020. Covering the graduation on Sunday for the Times was enjoyable. And, despite our challenging year, I thought both of our graduations; Ruthven/Ayrshire and Graettinger/Terril went well and the graduates all seem to have a positive attitude towards their future. Again – Congrats! I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older - Then it dawned on me; they were cram- ming for their Finals … Over a Cup of Joe.. LIRBA Votes to Cancel Bully Bullhead Weekend 2020 At a June 17th Wednesday af- ternoon meeting of the Lost Island/ Ruthven Betterment Association (LIRBA) an official vote was taken and with Covid-19 cases increasing at an alarming rate in the immediate area and after careful consideration, LIRBA has decided to cancel Bully Bullhead Weekend in Ruthven due to those rising positive cases of CO- VID-19. All activities associated with BBW are cancelled. LIRBA states their first priority is to keep our residents safe. BBW will be back in 2021! In Saturday’s tournament game with Okoboji/Milford GTRA scored 4 runs in the first two innings and that proved to be enough for the Ti-tans to defeat Okoboji 4-2 in the first game of the 3 team tournament held in Terril on Saturday. Hailey Ebel gave up a couple of runs in the sev-

enth, but earned her second win of the season as she struck out 3 and is-sued no walks on the day.

In the final game on Saturday the Titans played their best defensive game of the year behind Sophie Pe-tersen in the Championship game of the day and took the victory 7-4 over a tough Sioux Central team. Once again the Titans took the lead early and never looked back with all 7 runs coming in the first two innings. Kenzie Hoffman started the scoring in the first with a sacrifice bunt that scored Myla Murphy from second base. Later in the first inning Madi-son Hough would single and score on a hit by Sierra Kluever. In the second inning Lauren Josephson and Ally Hanson reached base on a single and a double and scored on a double that Macy Alderson ripped down the third base line. Macy would quickly score herself on a hit by Kenzie Hoff-man. Emma Kral finished out the Ti-tan scoring for the day by making the Rebels pay after intentionally walk-ing Madison Hough by driving a ball to the fence and scoring both Hoff-man and Hough.

by Jay Schoning I'm gonna make it short and sweet this week - Kandi needs all the room

she can get for stuff I gave her for the paper. But as they say, life goes on, new opportunities arise - and girls, when climbing the

ladder of success, don't let boys look up your skirts. Noah was a brave man to sail in a wooden boat with 2 termites. At least

I get to enjoy my weekends now without any worry of working at the hos-pital.

I was thinking about how people seem to read the Bible a whole lot more as they get older - Then it dawned on me; they were cram-ming for their

Finals …
