A very special Thank You to all who attended last week’s Homecoming festivities! We have so much to celebrate in our school community and this opportunity to focus on our alumni is one of my favorites! Every year we graduate a class full of promise and potential. Each year we get new updates on how our past graduates have fared in the “real” world. As the accolades and accomplishments accumulate over the decades, the pattern becomes more defined and permanent. Our kids emerge as business owners, accomplished artists, trusted employees, cherished family members, trustworthy friends and just plain fun folks! Our sports teams and fans set a very festive mood this weekend! Cheerleaders did a terrific job at their first Homecoming event! From Thursday to Saturday games, we could see commitment and practice pay off. The hours that go into creating the teams we enjoy can get lost in the thrill of the game. We give enormous thanks to the coaches, parents and team members who devote their afternoons to the preparation and teambuilding that bring us such excitement and joy during the competitions! Although all of the staff at TCS are careful about social media, I will admit to being Facebook friends with some of our alumni who are far enough out of high school to have jobs and families. I stay in touch will several who are still in school. I also hear from 2 authors, a musician, a few real estate agents, a developer, several teachers, an actor, some medical professionals, chefs, several entrepreneurs, and the list goes on and on! Exciting stuff! It was great to catch up last week! Although we are small and have our own little world up here on the hill, today’s societal woes still impact our families. Therefore, we must stay vigilant. We celebrate the fact that we serve good kids who come from strong and positive families. Our campus sees very little of the disruption that other schools experience multiple times a day. However, we cannot relax our attention to details and assume that our students are safe at all times. From local news stories, I know you are aware that risky behavior is on the rise in local middle and high schools. You have our commitment to continue to uphold our well established rules. If there is any indication that any of our beloved students have made a poor decision, we will follow up to 1) dispel that suspicion or 2) address the risky behavior and get them back on track. We appreciate your trust and cooperation as we partner to guide our teens through the maze of adolescence! Next month we will begin to host local college students who will be spending time observing our program and students as they prepare for their own teaching careers. Our in–house professional development serves as a model for other schools. The opportunity to observe students with learning disabilities as they participate and succeed in class is an important step in crafting their own positive concepts about the abilities and potential of students they have yet to teach. We are proud to continue our tradition of being a resource for local colleges and future teachers! Be sure to check your calendars for opportunities to cheer on our teams, get to know other parents and support our programs. We love sharing this adventure with you!

PAC PICKS THIS WEEK

Many Thanks go to the parents who volunteered and

attended Homecoming this weekend. In addition to meeting many TCS alumni, fun was had by all. A big round of applause goes to Tangela McFarlane for planning and orchestrating an amazing weekend of Homecoming events. In addition to being the TCS' Associate Director of Advancement we have also added the title of "Funnel Cake Extraordinaire" this past Saturday. Might I add, if you missed the homecoming events, make a point to attend next year. We had the opportunity to talk with several of the alumni and their parents, and hear their success stories that once again define why TCS is in a league of its own. And last, but not least, there were awesome Basketball games to watch and cheer for...Go Cougars!

Perfect for Friday Spirit Days! $13 each (Adult Med, Large, XL and a few XXL's are available) Email [email protected] or [email protected] if you're interested!

Did you know that in order for The Cottage School to get credit for the box tops you clip and turn in, your box top cannot be expired and each box top must be clipped all the way to the dotted line around the "box top for education" logo? These steps save our box top coordinator a lot of time when your labels are turned in. It will also be helpful if you include your own count on a sticky note or on the outside of the baggy you use to collect your box tops. Thank you!

The first re-enrollment contract

was submitted in this envelope...

from a very happy family!

We appreciate your trust in TCS.

We look forward to your family

community in the 2015-2016 school year.
