Today is our first practice and I want to take this opportunity to introduce myself and provide some information about the program. My name is Tim Re (pronounced RAY). I’ve lived in Florence for 10 years and my family became Cornerstone members in 2008. My youngest son Daniel is on this team, and I have three older boys, all of whom participate in this league. We welcome you to our church home and invite you visit us anytime for worship or any other of the exciting ministries at CBC. This is my second year of coaching Upward Soccer for this age group. I have previously coached youth soccer in the YMCA league and having done both, I am eager to show you how rewarding an experience Upward can be. Equally as rewarding for me is the opportunity to coach our team with my oldest son Andrew, who is also in his second season at ‘The Stone’. Andrew is 13 and enjoys working with younger children very much. New to the Bulldog coaching roster this year is Greg Gundrum. Greg’s son Caden is on our team and I look forward to incorporating Greg’s experience as a college soccer player into our program. The Upward mission is “To Introduce Children to Jesus Christ by Creating Opportunities to Serve Through Sports.” My goals for your child this season are to provide a great ministry experience through a great sports experience. At our team meeting, I will review the fundamentals of the program as well as take questions from you. At this level of play, the coaches are often in need of assistance running practices. We like to keep the players engaged and focused to avert “boredom.” In order to keep everything moving, we may call on you for assistance. I also need one volunteer to be the “Team Parent.” Among other responsibilities, this VIP will be in charge of the snack calendar. As many of you soccer parents know, SNACK is a very high priority for our players. Each week I will send out at least one communication via email regarding a recap of the last game, plans for the following week and a review of the week’s devotion. Please take the opportunity to discuss these topics with your child and enjoy the Upward experience off the field as well. Please feel free to contact me about any or all of these topics. My phone number is 843.464.5479 and my email address is [email protected]. Also, please include our team and this ministry in your daily prayers. May our actions touch the hearts of our children and bring glory to our Father. In His Service, Coach Tim
