Peacock feathers

The peacock has iridescent blue-green or green colored plumage. When the peacock fans its tail, it will be the most amazing creations of nature. Green occupies most of the area of the tail and it decorated with blue/brown round patterns which actually looks like the eyes and it will immediately attracted all eyes on it.

The overlapping feathers which seem chaos but it actually arranged in a basic order.

JOURNAL – WEEK 1

In the lecture this week, we have been introduced to the patterns in nature. We forcus on the analytical drawing. Everything is arranged in a certain order under the lens of a microscope which we can hardly see by naked eye. Partterns in nature are amazing, beneath the surface chaos is a perfect structure with a very basic rules which defined it own kind, not to be confused with other species. The first Virtual environment lecture had already make me look at world more carefully and discovered that it was amazing and opend up a rich intellectual thinking and thinking more logically and look at the world in a different way. This week reading "Analytical Drawing in Kandisky's Teaching at the Bauhaus by Poling Clark ( 1987)" was an investigation of the structural among the objects. There are 3 stages of an analytical drawing. Stage 1: simplifiy the chosen pattern's structure to its geometrical form. For my patterns, as base pattern are already curves it is easy to see its basic form, i drew many curves stacked on each other. After i've done so, i appiled stage 2 which i have to identify the relationships between the curves and expresses them through the linear form. As each curve in my drawing have the same scale and it is going down diagonaly straight, i found the linear connection between each curve are many parallel straight lines. The purpose of step 2 is to help us to see the connection between each pattern. Stage 3: break the patterns down further by using only points and lines which are the tention and connection between the patterns. After the 3 stages, students are required to be able to identify the hidden relationships between each of the components presented as the model, bring it to its simpliest geometrical form and find its tention and connection between each pattern.
