MOANA MANIA [Ages 3 ½-6]Join in the excitement, celebrating Disney’s newest prin‑cess, Moana. Make a Pacific‑inspired drum, a miniature sea canoe, three‑dimensional palm trees and more.

CLAY ALL DAY [Ages 3 ½-6]Using self‑hardening clay, mold and design cute animals in their habitat, whimsical woodland houses in the forest, underwater creatures in the sea and more! Time for draw‑ing, painting and outside play.


ART IS A GARDEN [Ages 5-9]A mixed media class celebrating art that is inspired from and also made for the garden. We will be using markers, oil and chalk pastel, watercolor, tempera, clay and more. Create paintings, a wind sock, a clay stepping stone, and other things inspired by and for the garden.

INTRO TO THROWING [Ages 8+]Learn the magic of the potters wheel, from proper clay preparation to how the wheel works. Decorating tech‑niques will be explored, and students will finish their piece with glaze, to be fired in the kiln. Wear clothes they do not mind getting DIRTY.

Our visual art enrichment program develops creative expression and artistic skills through hands‑on activities. Teen and adult classes are also open to ages 13+. For a full‑day program, a morning class may be com‑bined with an afternoon class. Supervised “bridge” care is available for these students, between 12-1PM, for an additional $20 per week (Week 3, July 3-7, $16). These students should bring a lunch.

FINANCIAL AID IS AVAILABLE. Forms available online and at the GAC office, must be returned by June 12.

Summer Youth Program JUNE 19 - AUGUST 18CANCELLATION POLICY: A full refund may be received up to June 2. A full refund less a $25 processing fee may be received for refunds requested up to 2 weeks before class starting date. Tuition credit less a $25 processing fee may be received for cancellations requested less than 2 weeks before the class starting date. After that time, no consid‑eration will be given without a written medical excuse. Students missing a regularly scheduled class will not receive a refund or makeup class.

BEADS, BAUBLES, BOXES & BUTTONS [Ages 3 ½-6]Students will explore different mediums such as polymer clay, beads, fabric, paper, wood, and various techniques while creating unique pieces of art— the sky is the limit!

CLAY CREATIONS FOR THE GARDEN [Ages 5-9]Create sun faces, gargoyles, animal sculptures, castles and flower pots with terracotta clay while you develop coil, slab, and pinch hand building techniques. Pots will be ready for the garden after they are fired.

PAINT, DRAW, COLLAGE [Ages 3 ½-6]With summer as our theme, experiment with a variety of mediums in a nurturing environment: acrylic and water‑color painting, mixed media collage, oil crayons and colored pencils. Time for clay play, stories and outside time.

PUPPET TIME [Ages 3 ½-6]Have fun creating different kinds of simple puppets. We will construct and decorate butterfly puppets, flowing dragons, sock animals, and big mouth puppets with a variety of art materials. Then we will become animated with dancing, parades or an original skit.


MIXED MEDIA FUSION [Ages 5-9]Learn to create beautiful works of art using different medi‑ums. Painting, beading, textile design, watercolors, colorful yarns, clay, fabric become masks, mandalas, jewelry, and painted floorcloths.

FUN WITH METAL [Ages 8+]Work in the metalsmithing studio to make jewelry and mini sculpture using copper and brass sheet metal and wire. Create objects to wear or hang. Explore using basic hand tools, such as, hammers, mallets, saws, cutters, files, pliers, and torches. Fee payable with tuition $15.00.

YOUNG MASTERS: THE MAGIC BOX [Ages 3 ½-6]Each student will create a colorful magic box that will be used to hide and reveal a new project for each class. Using mixed media materials such as paper, fabric, clay, beads, feathers and more, students will create a variety of projects inspired by the masters and contemporary artisans. One the last day of class, the magic box will go home filled with surprises for family!!

PAINT A MASTERPIECE A DAY [Ages 5-9]From Michelangelo’s classical style to Andy Warhol’s Pop Art movement and everything in between, learn and apply the painting styles and techniques of the masters. Recreate a different masterpiece each day. Student input and interest will be considered in determining which paintings will be copied. Instruction will include the life and times of each artist. All works will be created on canvas using acrylic paint.

MIXED MEDIA PAINTING [Ages5-9]This class combines the use of traditional drawing and paint‑ing skills with mixed mediums and materials. Traditional and non‑traditional art materials and different mediums will be used to create expressive paintings. Torn papers, fabric, fiber, and non‑traditional materials such as sewing patterns and other ephemera will be used. Individual cre‑ative expression is encouraged.


USING THE POTTER’S WHEEL [Ages 8+]Have you ever watched someone make a pot on the pot‑ter’s wheel and been amazed? Come and learn how to make your own pots. From preparing the clay properly to attaching it onto the wheel head and shaping it into a pot. The teacher’s demonstrations and individual instruction will help you gain those skills. The pots will be finished with glazes and fired in the kiln. Wear old clothes or bring a smock. Please note: Session A meets: 7/10, 11, 12, 18, 19. Session B meets: 7/13, 14, 17, 20, 21.

TEEN BLACKSMITHING This class will teach students basic forging techniques. COMICS & CARTOONING [Ages 7+]KA‑POW! Make your stories come alive by putting pen to paper! Develop your own characters, learn about famous illustrators, and create your own comic book/graphic novel. Explore illustration techniques including pen and ink draw‑ing, watercolor painting, caricature, and more.

Horses with plumes, dancing dogs, the ring and the band and the performers! We can make the tent, the flying trapeze and the tightrope with fabric and string and wire, in color.

ART OF THE BEADED CLAY MASK [Ages 8+]Take a journey into the art of mask making as we explore the meaning and use of the mask in cultures from around the world. Students will learn several clay and beading techniques while creating a beaded clay mask from original design to finished masterpiece using polymer clay, glass seed beads and mixed media. Additional projects will include polymer clay beads, mask pendants and more.


Week #9AUGUST 14-18

LITTLE GLOBE TROTTERS [Ages 3 ½-6]Let’s take a cultural craft journey to countries far and near. Learn about kids “just like you” while making an Adinkra cloth from Africa, clay Adobe house from Mexico, Carp kites from Japan and more! We’ll listen to music and play instruments from different countries and feast on exotic foods. Time for stories, snacks and outside play. Fee pay-able with tuition $5.00.


SKILLS & VISUAL TRICKS INSPIRED BY VIDEO GAMES [Ages 7+]Minecraft and a world of video games and stories offer rich ideas to draw an intricate world. Bring your creativity! Take away clay and sculpture and pictures you’ve made from the stories that inspire you, to put up in your room. Drawing is magic!
