Dear Families, Wow! Term 4. Can you believe we are here already? We can’t. Yes you guessed it. Another busy term lies ahead of us. We can’t wait to get started. We would also like to welcome Kyra who has returned to St Finbar’s after her stay in China. She has already settled back into the St Finbar’s life with ease. LiteracyThis term we will have a big focus choosing good fit books from the library. The children are encouraged to read to read a variety of books that are both fiction and non-fiction.

Our writing focus will be related to our Faith Life history topic this term. The children will be writing timelines of events and short reports about significant events and places around Melbourne.

We will continue to use the letters and sounds program focusing on spelling patterns in words.

ICT This term we will be learning about the history of our local area. This unit will

provide the children with the opportunity to understand the context and values of the community in which

they live. As Catholics, we display Solidarity, by living out our responsibility to care for one another.

In Mathematics we will be exploring 2D shape transformations, fractions and decimals, location and mapping, chance and probability, division, equivalent number sentences and problem solving.

Things to Remember! School Uniform - Full correct winter uniform is to be worn each day. Full sports uniform, including plain white socks, is to be worn on sports days. a

Late notices/absences - Parents are required to sign a late notice in the school office if their child is late to school. An email explaining absences is required to be sent to the teacher and Yvette on the day of absence. aa

Birthdays - If you would like to celebrate your child’s birthday, you are welcome to provide lemonade icy poles or a fruit platter to be shared. Birthday invitations are not to be given out at school.a

Diaries- Diaries are to be filled in each night after reading with a comment on how your child has read. This can be done by either yourself or your child but please sign off on it. These are to be handed in on a Monday morning each week. There is an expectation that at least 4 nights are filled in each week.a
