DR KRISTY GOODWIN – PRESENTATION

Earlier this week we had sessions for Stage 3 students,

staff and parents led by Dr Kristy Goodwin. The focus

was on keeping children safe in the digital age. The

staff also discussed practical ways for supporting

children’s attention management.

The feedback has been very positive on the support

being provided by the school so we can collectively

guide the children.

One of Kristy’s key messages for parents was whether

they were the pilot flying the plane when it came to

their child’s use of technology. Yes, we want to trust

our children and provide access and opportunity;

however, this also comes with responsibility and

supervision.

For it is when parents are flying the plane and in

control that if, and when, your child hits turbulence

when using technology you are in the best place to

give advice and support.

A good starting place is to have technology free

zones – particularly the bedroom. This helps to limit

distraction and gives the opportunity for children to

get the right amount of sleep.

Please access the below if you would like to receive

more information from the session.

END OF TERM

I would like to congratulate all our children on a very

busy, and I have been impressed with the work they

have been doing in classrooms.

I would like to wish all families a very relaxing and

enjoyable holiday vacation. I look forward to seeing

the children return to school on Tuesday 30 April.

THE EXCHANGE WRITING SHOWCASE

Last Thursday our Year 5 writers involved in the

collaborative writing with Year 9 students from

Narrabeen Sports High School, held a showcase of

their written works. This was a fabulous opportunity for

members of both our school communities to

celebrate the positive impact that learning in

partnership has for our students.

It was so rewarding for the writers to have an

audience to share their work with. Thank you to all

family members, teachers and friends who attended.

The teaching and learning partnership with

Narrabeen Sports High School is one which we are

privileged to have and we look forward to creating

more opportunities for our teachers and students to

learn together.

2019 CROSS COUNTRY

What a perfect day to run with clear skies and cooler temperatures. It is always exciting to see so many students

getting out there and giving the Cross Country course a go with such enthusiasm. Thanks to all of the staff and

parents who worked together to help run another successful Cross Country carnival. The top 6 placed runners

move on to represent Narrabeen North at the Zone Cross Country to be held at Rat Park on Wednesday, 5 June

2019. We wish all of these students the best of luck at this event.
