The PACAC structure [Chapter 2, text] provides a structure for evaluation of a source

Helpful to evaluate a source before you complete evaluations

Annotation Types

What an annotation includes depends on your project. Sometimes you are called upon to only summarize, sometimes you are called upon to analyze

Summarize: You may be called upon to summarize your source.

Analyze: More likely, you will need to analyze your source as a step in deciding whether to include it in your paper or project.

Descriptive: mainly summarizes a source. Does not offer analytical or critical analysis

These are usually short summaries for each item in bibliography

Analytical/Critical:

NOT a summary.

Analyzes authors’ arguments. Provides critical examination of the material presented
