“May God, who

gives this patienceand encourage-ment, help youlive in completeharmony witheach other”.

Romans 15:5

Who is the author and giver of

patience and encouragement ?

What will God’s patience provide you?

God’s plan has always been for Jesus to return to Earth one day .We don’t know when it will happen. God desires for his peopleto repent of their sins and place their faith in Jesus . Thankfullywe have a patient God who wants all of us to spend eternity withHim.

For the Lord, how many years is like a day?

Does God keep his promises?

Is God always quick to fulfill his promises?

What does Peter tells us about why God is so patient?

What kind of people does God call us to be as we patiently wait for the dayof God’s return?

God is a patient and loving God who wants nobody to perish butto have everlasting life with him. What an awesome gift he hasgiven us and to those we are praying for to join us in Heaven. Sowhen you are in a hurry for God to answer a prayer, rememberthat the Lord’s patience means salvation and his timing isperfect!

From the beginning of time, all God wanted to do is to take care of his creation. Hegave Adam and Eve a beautiful garden but they didn't obey his only request whichwas not to eat from the tree of life. Because of their sin, they were no longer allowedto enjoy the paradise God had created for them. Even in God’s disappointment andanger, he still had a plan for his people and a willingness to patiently wait for them torepent.

Through Adam and Eve, men and woman increased on earth. The population became numerous. Sin slowly crept into people’s lives and began to infiltrate God’screation. God became disenchanted with his people. Instead of destroying the Earthand its’ people, he saved a righteous and faithful man named Noah along with hisfamily and animals of the world.

After the flood, God made a covenant with Noah and again increased the Earth'snumber and filled it with his people. Sadly the world became wicked again and it’s

people fell prey to sin. Sodom and Gomorrah were two of the worst inflicted withwickedness. One of God’s faithful servants; Abraham, pleaded with God to save thefaithful in Sodom and Gomorrah before He destroyed them. God patiently listened toAbraham and saved the one faithful person — Lot and his family.

Later on, when the people of Israel were captives in Egypt, God again came to their rescue with the help of Moses. God performed many miracles for his people as heguided them out of slavery. The Israelites were initially impressed but when thingsdidn’t go as quickly as they expected , they began to grumble. The Israelites wantedto go back to Egypt because God hadn’t delivered them to the promise land in atimely fashion so they decided to rebel. Moses and Aaron pleaded to God to save theIsraelites and because of God’s slowness to anger he allowed the people to ultimatelyenter the promised land.

“ Now may the Lord’s strength be displayed, just as you have declared -the Lord is slow to anger, abounding in love and forgiving sin and

rebellion.” Numbers 14:17 -18We are still living in a world that people choose to not follow God and sin againsthim. God continues to be patient with his people even though sin continues toinfiltrate the world. Peter tells us God is patient because he is waiting for people torepent and place their faith in Jesus. God is abounding in love and is willing to

patiently wait for all of creation in hopes each person will declare Him their savior!Praise God for patiently waiting for each of us!

What was the most important thing you learned from today’s lesson?

How would you define patience?

Have you ever prayed to God for an answer to prayer and had to patiently wait on the

answer?

How did that make you feel and how long did it take for God to answer?

How can you show others the kind of patience God offers you?

My prayer:

Prayers God has answered:
