    The St. Louis Rams hit the road for the final t

    in 2011 as they travel to Pittsburgh to face

    Steelers in a Christmas Eve contest at Heinz F

    Kickoff is scheduled for Saturday at noon, CT.

    Sundays contest is the 24th all-time mee

    between the Rams and Steelers. The Rams l

    the series, one that dates back to 1938, by a 15

    margin. The two teams met in Super Bowl XIV.

    A couple of Rams are approaching milestones

    week. RB Steven Jackson needs just 34 rush

    yards Saturday to reach 1,000 for the seventh-c

    secutive season. His current streak of six-stra

    1,000-yard seasons is currently the longest ac

    streak in the NFL. Jackson is also looking for

    fourth 100-yard game of the season.

    DE Chris Long, who is tied for fifth in the NFL with 13.0 sacks this season, recorded a sack in seven of his last eight games. His current total is tied for

    most by a Ram in a season since sacks became an official statistic in 1982.

    Steve Spagnuolo is in his third season as head coach of the St.Louis Rams. In 2010, Spagnuolos team made a six-game improve-ment from 2009, finishing in second place in the NFC West. Thesix-game swing marked the second best turnaround in the NFL from2009 to 2010. The Rams finished with a 5-3 home record, the firsthome winning record since 2004. In addition, the Rams improvedtheir team net turnover ratio from -13 in 2009 to +5 in 2010. TheRams forfeited only six fumbles, the second fewest in the NFL.

    Spagnuolos 2010 Rams made considerable improvements in allthree phases last season. Defensively, the Rams jumped 10 spotsn total defense in 2010. On the offensive side of the ball, the Ramsaveraged 7.2 points per game more in 2010 than in 2009, largely byplaying smart football that saw the team rank tied for eighth with 21

    turnovers last season.

    Spagnuolo came to the Rams after a stellar career as defensivecoordinator of the New York Giants and was the architect of thedefense that shut down the high-octane New England Patriots in theGiants stunning 17-14 win in Super Bowl XLII.

    Spagnuolo spent eight seasons (1999-2006) with the PhiladelphiaEagles, serving as defensive assistant/safeties from 1999-2000,defensive backs coach from 2001-03 and linebackers coachfrom 2004-06. From 1999-2005, the Eagles played in four NFCChampionship games and one Super Bowl.

    Spagnuolo coached for 18 years in the college ranks and in pro-fessional football in Europe before joining the Eagles. Spagnuolo

    served as defensive line/special teams coach with the BarcelonaDragons of the WLAF in 1992 and was defensive coordinator/line-backers coach for NFL Europes Frankfurt Galaxy in 1998.

    A wide receiver at Springfield (Mass.) College from 1978-81,Spagnuolo coached collegiately at Massachusetts (1982-93),Lafayette (1984-86), Connecticut (1987-91), Maine (1993-94),Rutgers (1994-95) and Bowling Green (1996-97). Spagnuolo alsoworked as a pro personnel intern for the Washington Redskins in1983 and as a scout with the San Diego Chargers in 1993.

    A native of Whitinsville, Mass., Spagnuolo is married to wife, Maria.

    Mike Tomlin was named the 16th head coach in Pittsburgh Steel

    history on Jan. 22, 2007. Hired at the age of 34, Tomlin became

    only the third head coach hired by the Steelers since 1969.

    Tomlin became the youngest head coach in NFL history to both

    coach in and win a Super Bowl when he led the Steelers to a 27-

    victory over the Arizona Cardinals in Super Bowl XLIII. By winnin

    the Super Bowl in only his second season as a head coach, he a

    became the fastest to win a Super Bowl title in Steelers history.

    Tomlin spent the 2006 season as the Minnesota Vikings defensi

    coordinator. Under Tomlin in 2006, the Vikings ranked eighth in t

    NFL in total defense and first against the run while not allowing a100-yard rusher the entire season.

    Tomlin was the defensive backs coach from 2001-05 with the

    Tampa Bay Buccaneers. In 2002, Tomlin guided one of the most

    productive defensive backfields in the NFL, culminating with its p

    formance in Super Bowl XXXVII. The secondary recorded four of

    the teams five interceptions, returning two for touchdowns to hel

    Tampa Bay capture the franchises first Super Bowl title.

    Before joining Tampa Bays staff, Tomlin served two seasons as

    the defensive backs coach at the University of Cincinnati (1999-0

    He took over a secondary that ranked 111th in the nation in pass

    defense in 1998 and helped them improve to 61st overall in his

    first season. Under Tomlins direction in 2000, the Bearcats rankeighth in the nation in interceptions as well as fourth nationally in

    total turnovers.

    Prior to joining the Cincinnati staff, Tomlin had a short stint on th

    coaching staff at Tennessee-Martin and then spent two seasons

    Arkansas State where he coached wide receivers in 1997 before

    switching to defensive backs in 1998. Tomlin spent the 1996 sea

    son as a graduate assistant at the University of Memphis, where

    he worked with the Tiger defensive backs and special teams unit

    He began his coaching career in 1995 as wide receivers coach a

    Virginia Military Institute.

    Tomlin was a three-year starter at wide receiver at William and M(1990-94) and finished his career with 101 receptions for 2,046

    yards and a school-record 20 TD catches. A first-team All-Yanke

    Rams QB Sam Bradford missed last weeks game due to a highankle sprain. Hes passed for 2,164 yards in 10 games this season.

    Bradford is among the NFLs best when it comes to protecting thefootball through the air. Hes thrown just six interceptions in 357attempts this season, and his rate of 1.7 ranks fourth in the NFLthis season.     Last year, Laurinaitis had seven passes defensed, one intercep

    and 3.0 sacks. Among Rams, only starting cornerbacks Ron Ba(13) and Bradley Fletcher (12) had more pass breakups.

    Laurinaitis rarely comes off the field, and hes played in a team-h981 snaps this season.

    WR/PR Nick Miller was preparing to spendThanksgiving with his family in Arizona lastmonth when he got a call to head to St.

    Louis to join the Rams, and Miller made abig impact just a few days later in his Ramsdebut.

    In the first quarter of the Rams Week 12game against the Cardinals, Miller returneda punt 88 yards for a touchdown. The scorewas Millers first of his career and is tiedfor the third-longest punt return in Ramshistory. It was the first punt returned for atouchdown by a Ram since Dante Hall didso in 2007.

    Miller, who spent parts of three seasons with the Oakland Raiders,was on the Rams roster for two weeks earlier this season but didnt

    appear in a game with St. Louis until Week 12.

    The Rams used the 14th overall pick in last

    years draft on a young pass rusher who theyhoped would help them get after the quarter-back, and DE Robert Quinn has shown whyhe was highly coveted in April.

    On the season, Quinn has 5.0 sacks and istied with Chris Long for the team lead with 13quarterback hits. Quinn logged his first careerstart last week and notched a pass defensedwhen he raced into the backfield and swattedaway an Andy Dalton pass attempt.

    In addition to his role on defense, Quinn has been an asset forSpecial Teams Coordinator Tom McMahon. Last week, he partiallyblocked a punt, which was the third time this season hes either

    blocked or partially blocked a punt. In Week 8, Quinn blocked a puntthat led to a Rams touchdown and sacked Drew Brees. Quinn wasnamed NFC Special Teams Player of the Week for his efforts againstthe Saints.

    Quinn is tied with Sean Gilbert (5.0 in 1992) for the third most sacksby a rookie in Rams history. Quinn has a chance to make a runat Deacon Jones franchise rookie record of 8.0, although Jonesaccomplishment came in 1961 before sacks were an official record.Kevin Carter (6.0 in 1995) ranks second in the category.

    In his 12th NFL season, DE James Hall continues to be a rock for

    the Rams defense. Hes tied for second among Rams with 5.0

    sacks this season, and he has 46 tackles, including three for loss,

    and 11 quarterback hits on the year. In Week 11, he blocked a

    potential game-winning field goal to help the Rams pull out a victory

    in Cleveland.

    In 2010, Hall led St. Louis with 10.5 sacks on the year and also

    recorded 57 tackles, including two for loss. Hall also led the Rams

    and tied for second in the NFL with six forced fumbles last season.

    Hall now has 62.0 career sacks. Among active players, Hall ranks

    16th in career sacks. His 10.5 sacks last year was his second-highest

    single season total of his career (11.5 in 2004). He finished last sea-

    son ranked ninth in the NFC in sacks.

    A HAL L OF A PLAYER

    DE James Hall had 10.5 sacks in 2010, which was his second-best season total of his 11-yearcareer. He has 5.0 this season and leads all Rams defensive linemen in tackles.

    Rams DT Fred Robbins was one of the more unheralded signings of

    the 2010 free agency period, but his impact has certainly been felt in

    the middle of the St. Louis defense.

    Robbins had two tackles last week, including one for loss. On the

    season, Robbins is tied for second among Rams with four tackles for

    loss and he has 23 total stops.

    Robbins came to the Rams after six seasons with the New York

    Giants. During two of those seasons, Steve Spagnuolo was the

    Giants defensive coordinator. Its no coincidence that those two

    campaigns were perhaps the best of Robbins career as he tied his

    previous career high in sacks (5.5) in each of those seasons and was

    a Pro Bowl alternate in 2008. He played a key role in New Yorks run

    to their Super Bowl XLII championship.
