From the Principal’s desk…
It’s hard to believe that a week ago we had our
air conditioners on and this week we need the
heaters going! Just a reminder to make sure
your child’s clothing is clearly labelled,
particularly jumpers. We have an abundance
of lost property that is not labelled. Please look
through the containers in front of the
computer room if you are missing clothing.
Last week I attended a three-day Extended
Principal Induction conference in Sydney.
This is part of the Department of Education’s
School Leadership Strategy (2017), which
promised a strengthened induction for new
principals, with ongoing support for the first
two years in the job. I feel extremely fortunate
to be part of this program and particularly
enjoyed working with other Central School
principals over the three days.
Congratulations to Lewis
Henley who has been playing
in the Western PSSA
Basketball team at the State
Championships in Maitland
this week. Well done Lew!
Yesterday our Year 9/10 Agriculture and Stage
6 Primary Industries students went to the
Bedgerabong pig show. They enjoyed washing
the pigs and parading them. They were also
given the opportunity to compete in
the junior judging competition. This is a great
opportunity for our students.
Today our primary netball team are playing
West Wyalong Public School in round two of
the PSSA knockout. There is no result as I’m
writing this, however I know that the girls will
all try their best. Good luck girls!
This week we welcome two new staff members
to our team. Ben Cafe and Abby Pettit will be
working as Student Learning Support Officers
with students from Years 7 to 10. Abby will be
working with Year 7/8 and Ben will be
predominantly with Year 9/1o.
The Lower Lachlan Cross Country will be
hosted by UCS tomorrow. Good luck to those
students who will be competing.
Our Years 3, 5, 7 and 9 students will be
completing NAPLAN online over the next two
weeks. We are endeavouring to make this as
stress free as possible for those students and
just encourage them to try their best. Students
will have a free bbq lunch on each day that they
have NAPLAN. Tues 14th

On the 23rd of May (Week 4) we will be holding a school assembly in conjunction with the book fair
and biggest morning tea. As this is an assembly day, students are required to be in school
uniform.
National Walk Safely to School Day
On the 17th of May it is National Walk Safely to
School Day. A great time to remind your children of the road safety rules when they are walking or
riding their bikes to school.

Congratulations to Jackson Benness on receiving the 'Reg Rattey
VC Award' for 2019. This award is presented to an UCS student
who demonstrates resilience, the ability to rise amongst a
situation of adversity, determination and courage. All of which are
qualities that Reg Rattey demonstrated throughout his life and
during his campaign at Bouganville. Jackson is pictured with Rob
Rattey presenting the award on behalf of his family and wearing
his father's medals including the VC. Then he is pictured with Rob

FAST AND FREE PBL LEVEL 1 REWARD – MORNING TEA
What a great way to start a new term on Tuesday 30th April, with a PBL reward. The first level of the PBL barrel was
reached at the end of Term 1. Students came to school dressed in PBL colours and enjoyed a lovely morning tea
supplied by the staff. It was great to see students using their best manners as they attended the morning tea.
