This week, Moira begins with young classical star Alice Sara Ott’s recording of the Grieg Piano Concerto, before the Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra performs Vaughan Williams’ English Folk Song Suite. Other highlights include Bach’s Brandenburg Concerto No.3 and a moment of pastoral calm from Mascagni’s Cavalleria Rusticana. SATURDAY 7TH SEPTEMBER 5pm to 7pm: SATURDAY NIGHT AT THE MOVIES with ANDREW COLLINS Tonight, Andrew revisits one of our most popular themes from 2019 so far and features his favourite film stars of the furry, feathered and feline variety.

We’ll hear a selection of cues from Hans Zimmer's bold revision of his score to The Lion King for the 2019 live-action remake, which exceeded all box-office predictions by becoming the ninth highest-grossing film of all time.

In our menagerie of animal themed-music, we'll also hear from fellow Oscar-winner Alexandre Desplat and his score for the 2016 family favourite The Secret Life of Pets, as well as a cue from the collaborative efforts of Harry Gregson-Williams and John Powell for the stop-motion animated comedy Chicken Run. 7pm to 10pm: COWAN’S CLASSICS with ROB COWAN Rob begins with the contagious energy of Leonard Bernstein and his overture to Candide, featuring a conductor who is following in the great maestro’s footsteps: Gustavo Dudamel. SUNDAY 8TH SEPTEMBER 3pm to 5pm: CHARLOTTE HAWKINS This week, Charlotte’s Young Classical Star is the 28-year-old Uzbekistani pianist Behzod Abduraimov. Described as "the most perfectly accomplished pianist of his generation" (The Independent), Abduraimov has collaborated with the world’s leading orchestras and musicians since winning the London International Piano Competition in 2009. This afternoon, Charlotte showcases Abduraimov’s mature sense of musicality and flawless technique in his exceptional recording of Tchaikovsky’s Piano Concerto No.1. 7pm to 9pm: DAVID MELLOR David celebrates the much-loved British conductor Sir Andrew Davis, and features his recordings of favourite repertoire including Parry’s Jerusalem, Elgar’s Pomp and Circumstance Marches, Britten’s Young Person’s Guide to the Orchestra and Vaughan Williams’ The Wasps. 9pm to 10pm: EVERYTHING YOU EVER WANTED TO KNOW ABOUT CLASSICAL MUSIC with CATHERINE BOTT Catherine Bott delves into the lives of ‘bad-boy’ composers.

We’ll hear music by the notoriously naughty Mozart, and discover the story of Faure’s morning-after-the-night-before – which involved a drunk performance on the organ.

MONDAY 9TH SEPTEMBER 8pm to 10pm: THE FULL WORKS CONCERT: YOUNG ARTISTS WEEK All this week on Classic FM, we celebrate the young talent in classical music: the future superstars, and those who have already ‘made it’ at a young age. Jane Jones starts the week with a performance of Mozart’s Clarinet Concerto from skilled musician and instrument designer Julian Bliss, before the debut recording from the Chineke! Orchestra, a new orchestra whose goal is to “champion and celebrate diversity in classical music”. We also hear a pair of talented siblings performing music by Rachmaninov, and Weber’s Clarinet Concerto No.1 performed by international soloist Andreas Ottensamer, who became principal clarinettist of the Berlin Philharmonic Orchestra at the age of just 21. Tonight’s concert that includes the music of Mozart, performed by the 18-year-old violinist Noa Wildschut, the outstanding Kanneh-Mason siblings, and the young British pianist Benjamin Grosvenor.

The centrepiece of the evening, though, is Holst’s The Planets, played in its entirety by the National Youth Orchestra of Great Britain. We’ll also encounter the youngest ever member of the London Symphony Orchestra, trombonist Peter Moore; hear a Bach violin concerto played by 18-year-old violinist Daniel Lozakovich; and discover a contemporary choral work performed by a group of young British singers. FRIDAY 13TH SEPTEMBER 8pm to 10pm: THE FULL WORKS CONCERT: YOUNG ARTISTS WEEK To end Classic FM’s week-long showcase of young musical talent, Catherine Bott celebrates the 200th anniversary of the birth of Clara Schumann with a recording of her Piano Sonata in G, which the composer wrote when she was in her twenties. It’s performed tonight by Isata Kanneh-Mason.

Other highlights include an arrangement of a Scottish traditional song by young composer Rebecca Dale, and Beethoven performed by young pianist Alice Sara Ott.
