They played so well, both in method and in the way they behaved. Once again, we should all be very proud of our team - winning and losing gracefully is a great way to demonstrate Christ-likeness and humility. I especially liked how the Gators started the tunnel at the end of the game and encouraged our kids to participate as well. How cool was that? Congratulations to our GAME STARS: Position assignments went much smoother this week, but we can still make it better. I would like the boys who are sitting out during a period to stay together. This allows us to quickly see who’s available, keeps the game moving without having to scan the sidelines looking for our players, and encourages team spirit. I will have a blanket set out which will designate the “team bench.” Please encourage your child to stay put until called into play. This is also where we will keep the water bottles - make sure your son’s name is on his bottle. When they are not playing, I want the boys to watch the game and see what the others are doing. I would like a team parent to be the “sidelines coach” and steer their attention to the happenings on the field, so I will ask for a volunteer at the start of each game. I appreciate your cooperation with this change. The affects of attending practice regularly are measurable in the preparedness on game day and in the sharpening of their skills. Practice time is also when we participate in the weekly devotions. This is a core component of the Upward philosophy and a time in which I encourage your son to participate. That being said, thank God for the much-needed rain, but it appears Thursday may be a wash-out. If there is an opportunity to practice, I will. Also, I will check to see if we can practice on Friday as a make-up before the game. I will notify each of you by phone and/or email regarding the status of this week’s practice. Finally, if you haven’t already, I’d like to invite each of you to visit Cornerstone for worship service this week. If you need a friend to sit with, you’ve got one! Have a great week!
