From the Principal’s Desk…. Swimming Carnival
Congratulations to all children who participated in the
swimming carnival today. It was great to see so many
competitors getting involved in the various races.
The carnival is always an enjoyable day which is filled
with competitive races, friendly rivalries between house
groups and kids getting in the pool and giving their best.
Well done to all!
Thank you to Mrs Murphy and Mr Sutherland for their
efforts in organising the carnival and ensuring everything
ran so smoothly. Miss Dickson helped our convenors as
well with her knowledge from previous carnivals.
Thank you also to the hard-working parents who assisted
with time keeping and other tasks. A great community
effort!
For those students who qualify, the Pittwater zone
carnival will be held next Wednesday, 8 March at the
Warringah Aquatic Centre.
Helping Your Kids At Home With Maths
On Wednesday, 22 March (Week 9) we will be hosting a

worked at the school with students and staff.

mathematics education. She works with schools across
Australia to transform teachers into confident, inspired
mathematics educators. She does this by delivering a
deep, whole-school understanding of the mathematics
curriculum, along with innovative, enlightening teaching
techniques that inspire and delight.
Anita is a very engaging presenter and regularly runs
workshops with parents.

Creative Thinking in Science
This week I had the opportunity to see students’ creative
and critical thinking skills in science. Year 5 teacher, Ms
Doyle has been working with students in 5L and 5M to
investigate the difference between physical and
chemical changes.
Through a range of hands-on and experiment based
activities the students have been predicting,
questioning, observing and planning and conducting
investigations to determine how compounds and
mixtures can change.
I was very impressed with the level of communication
and discussion between students as they explored the
different concepts whilst having plenty of fun. Great
work Ms Doyle and Year 5!

Dance Update
This week three of our talented Stage 3 dancers, Emily L,
Bree W and Clare P, attended the Sydney North dance
workshops. These workshops were held over two days
at the Sydney Dance Theatre and provided the girls
with the opportunity to mix with other talented dancers
under the guidance of specialists. Other workshops will
be held throughout the year for primary students and
we hope to offer many others the chance to develop
their skills under the guidance of such experts.

The Healthy Hut News
Our early Easter Theme Day was a great hit. The Easter
Egg Cookies flew out the door. Thank you to all the
wonderful volunteers that showed up on the day, we
were all ready and waiting for the kids to show up in
record time.
As you know we are reviewing all of our current recipes
to incorporate more hidden vegetables and making all
of them from scratch. The salsa has been a big hit and
the next item is our pizza.
Our pizza base is made with pumpkin, spinach, olive oil
and flour and a little bit of garlic. These are made into
individual round pizza’s making it easier for little hands
to hold. Our pizza sauce is made with tomatoes,
capsicum, basil, garlic and oregano.
Our toppings are:
Cheese $3.00
Ham and Cheese $4.00
Hawaiian $4.00
BBQ Chicken $4.00
Vegetarian Pizza $3.50
We use nitrate free ham,
organic chicken and all of our fruits and vegetables are
now sourced from the Sydney Fruit and Vegetable
Market, via a wonderful mum at our school, Anita
Clapham. Anita owns and runs NB Fresh Fruit and Veg
Co-Op. Please look her up on Facebook.
