WEEK 6 – TERM 4 – 2017 Principal’s message Last week was another amazing week of learning for all students. Our youngest students were on show during Kindy Start as we welcomed our new Kindergarten students for 2018. In the last few weeks, a large number of new families have enrolled for 2018. If you are aware of anyone intending to enrol please ask them to call the office as we will be building classes based on our current enrolments. Over the next few weeks our prospective student leaders will be working on their speeches to be shared with our school. I know all students will do us proud. We would love to see as many parents as possible attending. I believe our current group of year five students have the leadership capacity to lead all of our students and continue the vision of the current leadership team. Good luck to all students involved. As the weather continues to warm up can I ask that our parents ensure all children bring the appropriate school hat. Teachers do take the weather conditions and appropriate hydration into account when planning outdoor activities but wearing a hat is essential. As we head into the second half of the term more and more events will be held at BAPS. Can all parents please keep an eye on our Facebook page, newsletter and website calendar to ensure you are aware of all upcoming events. I would like to send our condolences to the families from Banksia Public School following this week’s tragedy. Enjoy time with your children and remind them of how precious they are. Principal’s message

Stage 2 NRL League Tag Gala Day

Recently, we took six teams of Stage 2 students away to an NRL League tag gala day at

Gosford. Initially, a few students felt a little nervous about competing against other

schools, but once they understood that we were in a non-competitive gala day, they

relaxed and really enjoyed the day.

Our students continually represent our school with exceptional qualities. Their

encouragement, fair-play, willingness to include all team members was so wonderful

to see. Unfortunately, we suffered a couple of injuries on the day but once again our

students went out of their way to help out as they willingly filled the spots left in the

teams by our injured students. It is always such a pleasure to take students out who

represent our school in a positive way. Thank you Stage 2 students, we are so proud of

you!

Library

Overdue notices are being sent home to students who need to return their

late library books.

There are more than 200 students who have overdues so this is thousands of

dollars of books and quality resources that are missing from our library.

Thanks to those families who have returned their books or made payments for

their missing books.

If you have any issues please see Ms Nesbitt.

Year 6 Students versus Teachers

This week, our 7-year tradition of ‘Students versus Teachers’ was once again contested in a game of mixed netball. Although our Year 6 students displayed fantastic skills and sportsmanship, they were unable to come up with the win against the height, skills and maturity (for want of a less offensive word) of the teachers.

We are so proud of the effort, commitment and sportsmanship that our students displayed on the day. Well done to all students involved and thank you to all the teachers who accepted the challenge.
