Each member should read and critique your paragraphs;
Each member should write specific comments on your paper;
Each member should discuss his/her comments with you and return your paper
Agenda: (No starter)
Using your essay, write your 90 second to 2 minute Argumentative speech. (Refer to class handout/rubric to help you prepare.) Practice your speech in groups of 4-6. You MUST use notecards for your speech.
Review : Public Speaking Glossary of Terms (see below.) Sign up for Speeches

Practice! Book Report due Friday, 9/30/16. You’re welcome! No late book reports will be accepted!
Eye contact: The speaker looks at the entire audience throughout the
presentation.
Volume: The speaker is neither too loud nor soft and projects his/her voice so
that the audience can hear effectively.
Articulation: The speaker clearly enunciates--no mumbling.
Poise: The speaker’s appearance, posture, and mannerisms are appropriate
for a formal speech and are not distracting to listeners.
Non-fluencies: The speaker has no unnatural breaks in rhythm or speech
(words like “um,” “like,” or “uh”).
Evidence of Rehearsal: It is clear the speaker is prepared and has practiced the
speech--they truly speak to the audience rather than simply reading word for
word from notes. Speaker cites sources verbally during the speech.
