Week 9 Term 1 2018 From the Principal
Dear Parents/Caregivers,
We have already seen first Term fly past as we prepare for the holiday break and an exciting Term 2. All Swimming Carnivals have been completed as has Swim School and we had the highest numbers attending this year. The swim teachers and our staff said the children’s skill progressed significantly and our children were all well behaved. Thank you to all the teachers involved for providing these opportunities for our children.
PSSA teams have been selected and have started practicing and we are looking forward to the start of the competition. Some students have already had the opportunity to participate in a footy skills day at Werrington and a great day was had by all.
This Term both Mr Jeffress and Miss King left us, we will miss their hard work and dedication to our students and we wish them all the best in their future endeavours.

We celebrated Harmony Day on the 21 March 2018. All students were encouraged to come dressed in cultural clothes or to wear orange. Each class studied a country and artwork was displayed in the hall for parents and community members to view before a picnic lunch. Due to the weather our picnic was held in the hall and students and their families enjoyed having a picnic together. Thank you to all families and caregivers for attending our Harmony Day picnic.

Swim School
Every day throughout Weeks 6 and 7, 63 students from Years 2 to 6 attended Swim School at Emerton Leisure Centre. All students learnt essential water safety and survival skills and had the opportunity to practice swimming strokes such as freestyle, backstroke and back-scull depending upon their ability level. A great time was had by all and many members of the public commented on the outstanding behaviour displayed by our students over the two weeks.

Week 9 Term 1 2018
PBL KLA KAPERS
School Photos 2018 On Thursday 3 May we will be having the school photos taken for 2018. On this day class photos, individual portraits and family photos will be taken. This year our photographs will be taken by MSP photography. We will be sending home the order envelopes after the school holidays as each envelope has your child’s individual name and student number pre-printed and cannot be replaced if lost. If you have any further queries please contact Miss Dunn.
Please be advised that:
• Photo envelopes MUST be kept at home until photo day, as we cannot store them safely at school with the money inside.
• Each child must have their own envelope on photo day. • Correct money inside each envelope as they will be handed to the photographers on the
day and change will not be available. • Photos can be ordered online at www.msp.com.au and click on ‘order online’. Record
your child’s reference number on your child’s envelope. Click ‘change shoot’ to place multiple orders in one transaction
• Orders will not be accepted at school after the photography date. If you wish to order after this date you will need to contact MSP photography directly to make arrangements. Late charges will apply.
• All students must be wearing full summer school uniform on the day. • Family photograph envelopes are available from the front office, however only siblings
attending Noumea Public School can be in the photograph.

Week 9 Term 1 2018
Car Safety It has recently been brought to our attention that some students who are driven to school are being dropped off and picked up in dangerous locations. Please help us keep your children safe by ensuring that you park in a safe area before letting your children out of the car. We have been informed of a couple of near accidents due to children getting out of cars on the crossing, on the road and in the school’s driveway.
Stage 3 Canberra/Snow Camp
There are still spots available for 2018 Stage 3 Canberra/Snow camp. The excursion will take place in Week 2 of Term 3 on Wednesday 1 August to Friday 3 August. The camp is a three day/two night trip where students will visit the sights of Canberra and the Snow. Deposits can be paid in cash at the school office or via EFTPOS/credit card online. The total cost of the excursion is $340.00 per student. This includes travel to and from Canberra, two night accommodation, trip and equipment to the snow as well as meals from dinner on day 1 to lunch on day 3. To secure your child’s place, we require a $50 deposit to be ASPA. The balance of money owing will be due next term by Wednesday 4 July 2018. Please note the deposit is non-refundable once paid as we will need to submit final numbers of students attending. Should you have any queries regarding the excursion please do not hesitate to contact Mr Lewis the organising teacher or your child’s classroom teacher. We look forward to a wonderful learning experience with Stage 3.
