Red Wool and Black Buttons Reminder November 11 2018 will be the 100-year anniversary of the end of the First World War. The Radyr and Morganstown History Society are organising a festival. Several volunteers throughout the community are currently in the process of knitting poppies. In order to help them with this, we would like to receive donations of black buttons or balls of red wool. If every child in school brought just one black button it would be a massive help to a great cause. Thank you to those parents and students who have already donated. Please bring all donations into the Humanities faculty. If you can knit and would like to volunteer to help please contact Mrs Knight.
Number Day Report
On Friday 2 February, Radyr Comprehensive School took part in the NSPCC’s Number Day 2018. Students and staff were asked to "Dress up for Digits" and wear an item of clothing with a
number on it (eg a football shirt, cap or netball shirt). This was a great way to make maths fun and bring about a positive, ‘can-do’ attitude towards it. There were various number based
activities throughout the day, such as "Teacher Maths" and “Who wants to be a mathionnaire?” Teachers displayed posters of their favourite maths joke or quote. It was great to see so
many students taking part and enjoying these activities. The winners of the Teacher Number Fact Treasure Hunt were:
Year 7: Luca & Peter
Year 8: Lauren, Ruby, Evan, Scarlett & Catrin Year 9: Bethan
Many thanks to everyone who supported Number Day and helped us raise an amazing £1014
towards this fantastic cause. All the money we raised will make an enormous difference to children today and help change the lives of children tomorrow.
