I have had a great week and had the opportunity on Monday to spend the day working with Mrs Ellis and spending time in our Nurture provision. It was an absolute joy! There was some amazing learning taking place brilliantly supported by Mrs Ellis, Mrs Cobley and the team of support staff - do have a look at their blog! We have also been involved in key discussions this week about how we can begin to shape the future of ICT at Darton, exploring all sorts of options including the use of 1:1 devices and future proofing the infrastructure - exciting times! GCSE exams have continued to be ‘ticked off’ and I am sure if you have children in Year 6, or teach them you will be glad to see the back of SATs week! I cannot believe that next week is our final week before the half term break. On a final note, as a huge Liverpool supporter Mr Javid has made my week by selling me tickets for Steven Gerrard's final game at Anfield tomorrow - I just hope he doesn't get sent off after the first 5 minutes! I hope you all have a great weekend. Kate Davies, Principal Would you like to be a champion of your child's school community or other places within the community? Learners are aware of the planned revision classes that will be taking place right up until the end of their examinations and we ask that parents encourage them to attend these and to use their time whilst on study leave productively. Year 11 learners can also make use of the revision software 'GCSEpod' which they have been given information on that provides high quality, focused revision material across 20 popular GCSE subjects. We wish our Year 11 learners the very best in the examinations and their future education. We look forward to meeting with them on exam results day which will take place on Thursday 20th August between the hours of 10:00am 2.00pm.

    Nurture

    Snippets...

Nurture continues to forge links with the charity Support Dogs. This charity

links to our Nurture provision as Support Dogs train dogs to assist people with

autism. Staff from Support dogs visited the school to give a talk about the

charity and attended the recent teaching and learning carnival. Future

fundraising events at the school will see a portion of the donated monies

given to Support Dogs. Watch this space!

Georgina Eyre (7BE) produced an excellent piece of work in history, she gives 100% every day and in every subject - keep it up Georgina!

Joseph Wike (7BE) produced some fantastic work in Geography - his use of high level vocabulary and connectives was really impressive - What a great learner!

Hannah McMullan (8PC) created an amazing wire cat sculpture good work! Archie Whitehead (7Nu) produced a great piece of art work, demonstrating great

    noticing skills brilliant work!

    Year 11 Study Leave

On Monday 8th June Year 11 learn-ers will officially commence their Study Leave. As there is a maths exam taking place in the morning we have planned a revision session for all Year 11 learners in their maths classrooms to begin at 8.45am. An assembly will take place imme-diately after the exam and will finish at approximately 12.15pm. Learners will then be allowed to make their way home or if they have a further exam remain in school. A dedicated space will be made available for those learners remain-ing in school to enable them to reflect on the morning and help focus and prepare for the after-noon exam.
