There will be a meeting for all students who will be continuing in the Honours or Combined Honours programs in Human Rights & Human Diversity in 2013/14 in place in GRH 102 on March. 28, 2013 from 4:00 - 5:00 p.m. The main topics for the meeting are to discuss new courses for next year, to provide further information about the Ghana Internship program for the summer of 2014, to explain how to pursue your own internships through HR391/392, and the International Development Option. We will also be open to any questions you may have about the program. 1) HR365 Immigrant & Ethno-Racial Youth: This course applies an interdisciplinary approach to the study of immigrant and ethno-racial youth in Canada and, to a lesser extent, the United States. The Laurier Brantford Cheerleaders are having their tryouts for the 2013-2014 year Tuesday April 2 and Wednesday

April 3 at 9:30 p.m. at Wilkes House Gym. Join the Facebook group "Laurier Brantford Cheerleading Tryouts" or

The Men's Hockey Team were victorious at the 2013

OCAA Challenge Cup. They successfully beat 11

other teams to bring home the gold. With three

shutouts, including the final, the men dominated

over the competition. It is great to be a Laurier

Golden Hawk!

The Co-ed Volleyball team participated in their year- end

tournament in the Brantford Adult Volleyball League.

They dominated the competition, and won first

place. Congratulations to the team!

Hey Laurier! Just a reminder that the Aboriginal Student Centre offers drop-in services for Writing/Study Skills

Consultations every Tuesday at 2 pm. Be sure to drop by!

It is the police of the Learning Services Centre not to assist students with take home exams, unless a professor has

given prior instructions to the centre staff to do so. Faculty can contact Jenna Olender directly at [email protected]

to give either specific students, or their entire class permission to use this service.

This workshop is designed to help students learn strategies that will help them prepare for and write both objective

and essay style exams. Join us in Market Place room 115 on April 3 at 5 pm!

Are you a student who is planning on working on campus, taking summer courses or is in need of a place to stay

in Brantford for the 2013 summer? Brantford Residence Life is currently taking requests from any student interested

Laurier Brantford Children’s Education & Development students, come celebrate the end of the year with The

On April 5, from 4-6 pm, Nipissing University is teaming up with the Canadian Cancer Society for our event “10 for

10! Celebrating Nipissing University’s and the Canadian Cancer Society’s Birthdays”. Nipissing University students,

staff and faculty are aiming to raise $10,000 in the fight against cancer. You may cut 10 inches or more of your hair

or shave your head, which may entice some pledges! If you would rather not do either, you are still welcome to

raise pledges or donate to someone who will be involved in the hair cut/head shave. We will also be recruiting male

faculty/staff to participate in the fearless “leg wax”! If you would like to see or be the one to rip the wax strip off of

our faculty/staff member's leg, be sure to check this column for more details next week! All proceeds will be

donated to the Canadian Cancer Society. If you would like to be involved, please contact [email protected].

songs.

Mondays. No registration or fees required - just drop by the Aboriginal Student House located at 111 Darling

Street. An experiences bead worker, leather worker, and jewelry maker will be on site to guide and assist you as

you create your masterpieces!

Finding Your Voice: Learning how to hand drum: Have you ever wanted to learn how to hand drum? Well this is

the event for you. Come on out to the Aboriginal Student House at 111 Darling Street on Tuesday night. Edebwed

Ogichidaa- Val King of New Credit will be leading these hand drumming circles. Come on out and join in the fun!

Student Success and Well-Being workshops : The Laurier Brantford Aboriginal Student House is working in

conjunction with Laurier Brantford and Learning Services Centre to present to you the Student Success and

Well-Being workshops. These workshops are offered here at the Aboriginal Student House located at 111 Darling

Street Brantford. Come on in and learn all the tips and tricks to help you get to your graduation. An hour of your

time is truly worth every minute! Hope to see you there.

Study Skills and Writing Drop In Hours: Come on in to tout drop-in hours with Jo-Anne Lawless, our Senior

Aboriginal Mentor. She will be at the Aboriginal Student House located at 111 Darling Street every Thursday from

The Laurier Brantford Headstart Steering Committee is pleased to announce the opening of the 2012 Headstart

Leader applications. For the 2013 program, 10 students will be hired to lead new students through a summer

orientation program. Students interested in applying for this paid position should complete the application form

and submit electronically to Chris Brunskill, [email protected] or by hard copy at Service Laurier Brantford. The

application deadline has been extended! Applications should be submitted no later than 9:00 am March 29, 2013.

Physician appointments: offered daily by appointments and walk-in by order of priority.

Chiropractic Services: offered weekly on Monday and Thursday afternoons. Treatment approaches include

interventions such as adjustments, soft tissue therapy and exercise prescription.

Massage Therapy: offered Tuesdays and Thursdays.

Custom Foot Orthotics: Insurance and most private insurance companies cover some or all of the cost of custom

orthotics. A physician referral is required.

Downtown Brantford Research Survey: A survey is being conducted by a student in CT403 Community Internship

for Downtown Brantford Business Improvement Area (BIA). This study will collect information that will assist in the

enhancement of post-secondary student engagement in the downtown area of Brantford (DTB). The desire is to

help remove or mitigate barriers of students in engaging in activities in downtown Brantford. The responses to the

survey will be kept confidential and has been approved by the Laurier Research Ethics Board. The survey will be

"Laurier Offering Laughs" (L.O.L)

On March 28, from 9-4 in RCW lobby, the CT400Z

"Humour" class wants you to have a laugh. Stressed

with upcoming exams? Papers piled up to the ceiling?

“Laurier Offers Laughs” will include poster displays

exploring themes connected to humour, as well as a

variety of games, displays and events. Come on out to

participate and compete for prizes in a "Whose Line Is

It Anyway?" competition, tell us your funny story and

put a pie in your professor’s face! There will be baked

goods for sale and awesome prizes from all events! All

donations and money raised will be going toward

AASK (Arts After School Kids). Come join us for a great

time and a good laugh!
