How much food does the world need? Rationale 1. Topic The topic is from the World Economic Forum’s 10 biggest global challenges. It is therefore undeniably relevant to all global citizens. 2. Materials Heavy texts are avoided in favour of statistics and data that students then manipulate using thinking skills and/or writing skills. There is a quick introductory video that is professional and contains key stats. Supplementary reading and listening texts are provided as links on the blog for homework if students want to go into the subject in greater depth. These could be given IELTS style comprehension questions. A provision is made for supporting students in the functional language needed to complete the task.
