The first store that I visited was Price Chopper.

There was nothing that caught me by

surprise. Since Halloween

is around the corner,

the items that were in

the front where not

only the sales items

but candy.

The second store that I visited was Marshals. Going through the

list again I was not surprised, but I did find

that the music reflected the

store. And the

associates were female

as were the

shoppers.

The third store that I went to

was a local bookstore. The

biggest difference I found in the

next stores I went to was the

importance to the store

windows. Where as big box

stores do not have to worry

about window displays.

The next insight that I fell upon

was when I spoke to the shop owner of Downtown Designs. I

was asking him the

questions on the list. I

informed him of the open

door question and while the

fact that the door was open did not affect me. He told me that

some people can feel trapped with a shop door closed and that

they feel like they have to purchase something. So I found that

to be interesting.

In the last store that I visited is an unique food store. I have

been in the store before but never noticed that there was no

organization to their products. Where as the other stores all

have the items organized by subject.

I’m not sure what hidden opportunities the teacher wanted us

to expose. For me, I would think that in the speciality food store

that having your product organized by like items would be

helpful. In fact when I asked the associates about it, they

agreed that there was no rhyme or reason to how they stocked

the shelves.
