1) You need the larger story to
understand why the good news is
good.
2) Where you end the story determines
what the good news actually is.

Genesis 3:1-6
1 Now the serpent was more crafty than any of the wildanimals the LORD God had made. He said to the woman,
Did God really say, You must not eat from any tree in the
garden?
2 The woman said to the serpent, We may eat fruit fromthe trees in the garden, 3 but God did say, You must not
eat fruit from the tree that is in the middle of the garden,
and you must not touch it, or you will die.
4 You will not certainly die, the serpent said to thewoman.

5 For God knows that when you eat from it your eyes will
be opened, and you will be like God, knowing good andevil.
6 When the woman saw that the fruit of the tree was good
for food and pleasing to the eye, and also desirable for
gaining wisdom, she took some and ate it. She also gavesome to her husband, who was with her, and he ate it.

Genesis 6:5-7
5 The LORD saw how great the wickedness of the humanrace had become on the earth, and that every inclination of
the thoughts of the human heart was only evil all the time.
6 The LORD regretted that he had made human beings on
the earth, and his heart was deeply troubled. 7 So theLORD said, I will wipe from the face of the earth the
human race I have createdand with them the animals,
the birds and the creatures that move along the ground
for I regret that I have made them.

Romans 8:20-22
20 For the creation was subjected to frustration, not by itsown choice, but by the will of the one who subjected it, in
hope 21 that[h] the creation itself will be liberated from its
bondage to decay and brought into the freedom and glory
of the children of God.22 We know that the whole creationhas been groaning as in the pains of childbirth right up to
the present time.

Ephesians 2:1-2
1 As for you, you were dead in your transgressions andsins, 2 in which you used to live when you followed the
ways of this world and of the ruler of the kingdom of the
air, the spirit who is now at work in those who are
disobedient.
2 Corinthians 4:4
4 The god of this age has blinded the minds of
unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospelthat displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.

Genesis 3:14-15
14 So the LORD God said to the serpent, Because youhave done this, Cursed are you above all livestock
and all wild animals!
You will crawl on your bellyand you will eat dust
all the days of your life.
15 And I will put enmity
between you and the woman,and between your offspring and hers;
he will crush your head,
and you will strike his heel.

so w w h at ?1. Realize that the brokeness in this world was not
originally intended by God but came as a result of theoriginal rebellion against God. Start to include this fact
in conversations you may have with friends who talk
about the bad in the world but dont believe in Gods
story.2. Develop compassion for people who have not yet
received Jesus as you realize that apart from Christ
they will never experience forgiveness or things as God
intended.3. Be faithful in telling this part of Gods cosmic drama as
God gives you opportunity to talk with others about
Him.
