New Board elected

The new Board of the ASAQS was appointed during the first board meeting of the year held on the 12th March at O.R.Tambo. The new president and executive committee of the ASAQS was also elected during this meeting.

The new president is Mr Onesimo Dhliwayo (pictured on the left). Onie was born in Zimbabwe in 1962 and completed hisearly schooling years in Catholic Schools, before moving to South Africa to pursue tertiary studies, a BSC QuantitySurveying and MBA studies focusing on Strategy at the then University of Natal. E-procurement refers to the use of electronic communications to buy services, goods and works orconduct tendering for construction works. They are seeking to ascertain the state of e-procurement application in theconstruction industry and how clients use e-procurement applications to acquire services and works in the constructionprocurement process.

The 7th SACQSP Research Conference

The 2014 SACQSP Annual Research Conference is taking shape and will be a joint event with the ASAQS and hosted byTshwane University of Technology at the CSIR in Pretoria. The African Association of Quantity Survey and theInternational Cost Engineering Council have requested to be associated with this conference which is developing areputation for quantity surveying information excellence. The theme of this year’s conference is “Quantity Surveying –Mapping the Future”.
