Team Vans:Last year was our first time experimenting with team vans and we were pleased with the quality of the vans but scheduling was a nightmare. Therefore, we will be happy to assist teams with book-ing vans for the tournament if you wish. If you would like this service we would advise you to rent the vans for the entire tournament and not only on a daily basis. By booking this way it will ensure that you have the same vans and drivers throughout the entire tournament and this will make things less confusing for everyone. We will do all the arrangements for you but when you arrive in Bang-kok it will be your responsibility to coordinate with your driver. Thanks guys and we do think the vans are a great idea but we strongly recommend that you book the drivers for the entire tournament.

Land of Smiles Hockey Classic Classic Tournament FAQ’s

1. Is the rink a regular size ice surface?A: Yes the rink is a regular size ice surface. The rink dimensions are 98 ft. by 197 ft. and all games will be played 5 on 5 with a goalie.

2. How far is the rink from downtown Bangkok/Hotel area?A: The ice rinks location is about an hour from downtown Bangkok and the Amari hotels. Please allow yourself at least one hour to get to the ice rink. The rink isn’t actually that far however the traffic is really congested so please be patient. Last year if you took the freeway the approximate time to the rink was 25-35 minutes from downtown (Please note this was last year but we are hoping for the same luck this year)

3. What is the best way to get to Imperial Samrong Ice Rink?A: There are about three or four different routes you can take to the rink. Please let us know where you will be staying for the tournament and we will provide you with maps and directions in Thai and English for you to give to your taxi driver. We will also have a hotline number for you to call just in case you are lost. The taxi ride from downtown should not cost you more than 200 baht or 5 USD. Team Vans are available upon request.

4. Are there showers at the ice rink and can we store our gear overnight there?A: Yes there are showers at the ice center. If you purchase the Silver or Gold Package we will provide storage for you. (Please note this year we will be increasing our security due to a few thefts last year) We plan on improving the equipment storage facili-ties by having team dividers and a very controlled system.

5. Is the ice rink in a shopping mall?A: The ice rink is located in a shopping center. The shopping center has a movie theater, snooker hall, lots of food stalls and restaurants and most importantly Thai massage shops in and around the mall.

6. When does our team have to arrive to the tournament?A: We would like to see all teams fly in no later than October 24th. Due to the amount of teams participating this year we have planned to start Wednesday morning. If you play Wednesday this might be an advantage to your team, as then you would only have to play one game on Thursday.

7. When will the schedule of the games and the full details of activities schedule for the tournament become available?A: The schedule will be out by no later than September 20th. If we can confirm all teams early than the schedule will become available at an even earlier date. All tournament activities will be available prior to October 10th. We will be planning a special post-game party/banquet Saturday Night as well as theme night every other night of the tournament. You do not want to miss the great nightlife that Bangkok offers.

8. Will there be water available for our team during the games?A: Yes all water will be provided for the teams throughout the tournament.

9. What if my wife and kids are coming to the tournament is there anything to do for them in Bangkok?A: Yes Bangkok offers many fun activities for the family. Please let us know if your family will be coming and we can assist them with some ideas and suggestions of where to go and what to do.

10. Does the ice rink have a Pro Shop?A: Yes the ice rink has a pro shop and also skate sharpening is available.

11. How do I know what Division to enter our team in and what level is the tournament?A. We have two International Divisions the Open and the Recreational. The Open Division is for players/teams with a skill level compared to an Adult Men’s A or B level. Most players in this division have played competitive hockey throughout their lives. The Recreational Division is aimed towards players/teams whose skill level is compared to a Men’s C or D Level. Most players’ in this division are novice players and might be a little past their prime but still love the game!
