VBS Starts NEXT SUNDAY!!! 1 Thoughts on Romans 1:17 (by Kristin Sellentine) There is a lot to unpack in this verse. "For in it..." Paul is explaining why he said (in verse 16) that the gospel is the power of God for salvation for all who believe. Because in the gospel: "the righteousness of God is revealed..." Of course, God himself is righteous, but that was revealed many times in scripture apart from the gospel. And our righteousness can only be God-given: "From faith to faith..." From beginning to end, from A to Z, from Alpha to Omega -- our righteousness is only through faith. No works required. "As it is written:" Where? Romans 4:3 points us to Genesis 15:6. "And he (Abram) be- lieved in the Lord, and he counted it to him for righteousness." KJV "the righteous shall live by faith." This is Paul's point. It may sound like first you have to be righteous and then you may live by faith. But Abram believed first; then he was credited with righteousness. We are righteous only because we have faith and therefore we will live. Dear Lord, this is such Good News! Thank you for making a way for our salvation through faith in Jesus. Keep us humble. Help us to remember that everything we do is only a response to what you have already given us. Amen. There is a lot to unpack in this verse. "For in it..." Paul is explaining why he said

"the righteous shall live by faith." This is Paul's point. It may sound like first you have to be righteous and then you may live by faith. But Abram believed first; then he was credited with righteousness. We are righteous only because we have faith and therefore we will live.

On Monday, July 13, around 4:20 p.m., the playground at FLS was set on fire and burned. Unfortunately three large structures, and some of the ground cover, have been de-stroyed. FLS and Trinity are working together, with their respective insurance agencies to fig-ure out how much of the cost for replacement can be covered. Playground equipment is very expensive and several families have started donation funds to help the school with the cost of replacement. If the Holy Spirit leads you to want to help with any donation, please let the school office know. We ask that you keep the school in your prayers, and we also ask that you pray for the young people who are respon-sible for the fire, as their lives have drastically changed. Together, and with God's hand, we will get through this too. Please pray for Faribault Lutheran School and the FLS Board as they seek to call a princi-pal after Seth Winter’s resignation.

FLS Registration for the 2020-21 school year is now open! Be sure to contact the school of-fice at 334-7982 or email [email protected] for more information. Tuition assistance and scholarships are available.

Trinity Quilting Group stopped meeting in March this year when the restrictions on meeting went into effect because of the corona-virus. Now that we can gather once again as long as we follow guidelines given to us by the state of Minnesota, it is time to start quilting. All are invited to find your scissors and your needle and join the Trini-ty Quilters on Wednesday mornings at 9:00 a.m. We will begin meeting on August 5. Please wear a face mask, and we will be spread out on our usual work tables so that we are all working at a safe distance. It will be good to gather again and begin working on quilts. See you on August 5!

The original estimated cost without basement and with the canopy was $392,000. Howev-er, the actual cost of the new church offices was an increase of 9%. The new goal is $428,000. A loan was taken out with LCEF for the $30,000 to cover the cost. Pledges still outstanding will help pay for the loan. We will still have $14,000 to pay over the next 10 years at about $3,500/year.
