Wipro Partners With Oracle to Offer Analytics Solutions

• Indian IT Wipro has teamed up with global enterprise software products firm Oracle to offer a warranty management and analytics solution for industrial manufacturing, automotive and high-tech industries.

• Oracle's Siebel customer relationship management applications will help streamline the warranty management process across original equipment manufacturers (OEMs) to reduce warranty expenses & fraudulent claims.

Skoda's August Sales Up 24 Percent,

to Launch New Car • Czech automobile major Skoda Auto’s monthly sales in

August grew by 24 percent to 1,511 vehicles and that it intends to launch its Sports Utility Vehicle (SUV) YETI

later this year.

• The growth in sales was due to the success of its brands, Superb and Laura.

scheme Skoda Shield. The scheme is an inclusive package which consists of motor insurance, anytime roadside assistance and extended warranty.

• The Volkswagen group company has been present in India since 2001 and operates a manufacturing plant in Shendra, Maharashtra. The company currently offers only three models- Superb, Laura and Fabia.

Amid China Trouble, India, Japan to Firm Up Economic Pact

• Amid dissonance in relations with China, India is looking to expand strategic and economic ties with Japan by comprehensive economic partnership agreement (CEPA).

• The pact, called Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) in Japan, is expected to slash tariff duties on around 9,000 products, ranging from steel and apparel to drugs and machinery, and give a big boost to bilateral trade which was estimated to be around $ 11 billion in 2008-09.

Rajasthan Inks MoU With IFC to Attract Private Investment

• The Rajasthan government signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) with International Finance Corporation (IFC) to attract private investment, generate opportunities for small businesses and support job creation in the state.

• The MoU aims at forging a three-year partnership for identifying promising sectors for investment promotion, reviewing the state's investment policy, and assisting the government to implement reforms that create an environment conducive for business and economic growth.

SEBI Floats New Rules to Curb Price Volatility

• SEBI said trading of shares of companies going for a merger, demerger or a change in capital structure will have to be done in a price range for the first 10 days of post-restructuring to curb volatility in trading.

• Moreover it includes “Trade-for-Trade Settlement” which means that transactions will be settled between buyers and sellers without a clearing house. In this kind of settlement, intra-day trading is not possible, since one has to take or deliver securities for every trade.
