Rose Milburn, School Governor, would like to share a hedgehog tale with you all. My son, Paul, found this hedgehog last Sunday evening. He went past in the car and, when he returned it hadn't moved, so he guessed it wasn't well. The other son, Philip, came with some gardening gloves (hedgehogs are very, very spikey) and they brought her to our home, where she stayed overnight unl we could take her to a hedgehog rescue. She was very cold and wet, covered in pondweed and had a poorly leg, probably from trying to escape from the pond where she was trapped. It is important to leave a gentle slope at one end of a pond so that hedgehogs and other creatures can escape if they fall in. We have named the hedgehog Margaret and she is doing well, eang lots of food, and will be released back into the wild when she is well enough. This week, we held a photography competition for the children who have been in school. Here are our winning photographs; I think we can all agree, we have some very talented, budding photographers! Fitness Challenge

Thanks for all of your 'Keepy Up' challenge entries! We could not pick a 1st, 2nd and 3rd so instead we have chosen a num-

ber of winners across the school. Well done to you all!

CLASS Y2MW *a special mention to the pupils in the video montage in Y2MW -

a fantastic effort by all.

Hedgehog Awareness Week! Rose Milburn, School Governor, would like to

share a hedgehog tale with you all.

My son, Paul, found this hedgehog last

Sunday evening. He went past in the car

and, when he returned it hadn't moved, so

he guessed it wasn't well. The other son,

Philip, came with some gardening gloves (hedgehogs are

very, very spikey) and they brought her to our home,

where she stayed overnight until we could take her to a

hedgehog rescue. She was very cold and wet, covered in

pondweed and had a poorly leg, probably from trying to

escape from the pond where she was trapped. It is

important to leave a gentle slope at one end of a pond so

that hedgehogs and other creatures can escape if they fall

in. We have named the hedgehog Margaret and she is

doing well, eating lots of food, and will be released back

into the wild when she is well enough.

This week, we held a photography competition for the children who have been in school. Here are our winning photographs; I think we can all agree, we have some very talented, budding photographers!

We cannot believe how amazing all the Outdoor Art Challenge entries have been. They were all FANTASTIC!

Our winners are...R- Kal C, Y1 - Georgia H, Y2 - Kitty S, Y3 - Olivia B, Y4 - Connor M, Y5 - Zara H, Y6 - Eve BT

YOU ASK!

...Miss Marley! This weeks questions have been asked by Lacey B in Year 6 YOU ASK!

Q1. How are you coping with the pandemic?

I am doing ok! I miss everyone lots – all my family, friends and everyone at school – but I

know by staying indoors I am helping keep everyone safe. I am just looking forward to

seeing everyone when I finally can.

Q2. What is your dog’s name?

My dog is called Ollie. He is a Cocker Spaniel crossed with a Poodle. I named him after

Olly Murs because I loved his songs at the time.

Q3. Are you missing school?

I miss being in school and seeing everyone’s smiley faces. It is definitely not as fun

working at home without you all.

Q4. What are you doing to help you through the day

I am making sure I do things which are keeping my body and brain active: going for a

run, walking my dog, reading and doing work on video calls with Miss Bartram and Mrs

Pearson.

Q5. Are you with family?

I am very lucky that I am spending lockdown with my family. As you may know, I like to talk lots so I think I’d

find being alone in lockdown difficult.

Q6. Do you think I will get to see you again as I go to comp in September?

The Year 6 teachers and children will definitely see each other again. You can take my word for that!

Q7. What’s happening with our SATs?

The government have said that there will be no SATs this year, due to the current situation. But don’t worry!

We’ll probably be asked to report a teacher assessment, which means us telling the government what grade

you would have got, based on upon the work we have in your books. But remember, grades are only one part

of what measures your time in school and we shouldn’t stress about them. You’re all amazing!

Q8. Are you keeping a daily routine?

Yes! I love organisation so keeping to a daily routine is really helping me stay positive and focused during lock-

down. I would recommend you all have a daily routine, whereby you do something active, some school work

and something fun.

Q9. Do you think our world will return to normal?

I think that this situation will give everyone a new appreciation for the world we live in. If that is the case, then

our ‘normal’ could become something even more amazing than it was.

Q10. What has been the best thing you have done since lock down?

The best thing I’ve done is made sure I’ve stayed in touch with my friends and family. I’ve constantly been on

the phone, on facetime and doing quizzes. Remember the important thing is that you’re happy and safe!

“I miss you Miss Marley, from Lacey”

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes Catch Challenge

How many times can you throw a ball in the air and catch it? If you don’t have a ball, use a rolled-up pair of socks, or be creative!

As you throw the ball (or object), start by touching your head before catching it. Then, on your next throw, can you touch your head and shoulders before catching? Then, try head, shoulders and knees before catching it. Finally, can you touch your head, shoulders knees and toes, before catching?

Football team - your challenge from Mr Shaw is instead of catching, you still have to follow the sequence (touching head, shoulders etc.) but bring the ball down on your first touch instead (chest or feet). Remember to send in your photos/videos to [email protected].

Remember to make the subject your child's class. If you are on the football team, put your class and 'football team' in the subject and your message will be forwarded to Mr Shaw, who is looking forward to seeing your re-plies. E.g. Y5CB Fitness Challenge Or, Y5CB Fitness Football Team

A winning class will be chosen this time next week, based on the class with the most entries! Y5CGNA hold the title - can anyone else knock them off the top stop or will they be the champions, again?

Good luck, everyone!

*Grayson is our new pupil - well done!
