History Weight Enforcement in Brazil

• Brazil applies low speed weigh-in-motion for enforcement since 70’s – using bending plate technologie;

• There are 77 weight stations spread by the national road network;

• The weight station uses a 60 km/h pre selection scale and a 10 km/h enforcement scale (with metrologic approval);

• Today is in process the PNCT - National Plan of Traffic Count and PNP – National Plan of Weighing;

Brazilian Overloading Prevention Program

• The Overloading Prevention Program will performe diferentes actions for reduce overloading practices:–Company Profiling System;–Certification Program with road authorities;– Intelligent Access Program;

Weigh Station ArchitectureAutomated Integrated Enforcement Station

This architecture aims at promoting compliance of traffic and transportation regulations

comprehensively, including all activities of a Brazilian traditional weigh station with the necessary adaptations and improvements.

• General aspects of Brazilian legislations:– 154 types of trucks plus;– Different size of vehicles with same number of

axles;– WIM error class for Enforcement (under discussion by

metrology department):• GVW – 0,5%;• Axle and grup of axle – 1%;

– Tolerance (under discussion by MT):• Per Axle – 7,5%;• GVW – 5%;
