The Jack L. Boyd Outdoor School at Green Meadows is managed by the Merced County Office of Education
Since 1950, Our program has been operating in the Sierra National Forest
Where is Green Meadows?
Green Meadows is nestled in the Sierra National Forest, 2 miles from the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park in Fish Camp, California.
What You Will Need To Pack: 2 Pieces Of Luggage 1st Bag:
▪ Sleeping Bag or
▪ Blankets
▪ Pillow
▪ Extra SOCKS!!!
Luggage: 2nd Bag
Clothing:▪ Lot’s of Socks▪ Layers: T-shirts Sweatshirts Sweaters Hats and Gloves Jackets 2 Pairs of Shoes
▪ Water Bottle▪ Back Pack▪ Chapstick▪ Deodorant▪ Toothpaste▪ Shampoo▪ Towel
What to Leave at Home
Not Allowed:Money, expensive jewelry,
Candy, Food, Drinks, Canteens, Gum Shorts or Sleeveless Tops (Tube, Tank, or Halter Tops)**, and any distracting clothing. Curling Irons, Guns, Knives, Hatchets, any weapon Comic Books (unless approved by the teacher), Radios/CD Players/MP3’s etc., Tape Recorders/players, Electronic Games, Walkie-talkies/family radios, Cell Phones/Pagers Anything valuable/irreplaceable.

A Typical Day at Green Meadows
• 7:00 AM: Wake Up• 7:45 AM: Breakfast• 8:45 – 9:30 AM: Recess Sign-Ups/Prepare for Class• 9:30 – 11:45 AM: Morning Class• 12:00 Noon: Lunch• 1:40 – 3:55 PM: Afternoon Class• 4:00 – 4:45 PM: Recess• 4:50 – 5:50 PM: Cabin Time (Showers, skit practice)• 5:55 PM: Dinner• 7:00 – 8:00 PM: Teacher Time• 8:00 – 8:45 PM: Evening Class• 8:45 – 9:30 PM: Campfire • 9:45 PM: Lights Out• 10:00 PM: Quiet Contest
Medications
Includes:▪ Vitamins▪ Over The Counter▪ Prescription
▪ All medications need to be in originalcontainer with originalprescription label on it.
▪ All medications will go to school nurse/ teacher.
▪ RX form is needed.
Administering Medications
▪ A nurse/EMT will be on duty 24hrs
▪ Nurse/EMT will administer medications to students at appropriate times.
Safety
▪ GMOS #1 goal is to provide Physical and Emotional safety of students.
▪ All teachers and naturalists have radios & first aid kits.
▪ Ratio of adults to kids 1:7
▪ Buddy System

▪ Cabin doors locked at Night
