10U Player Development Initiative Build Out Line Goal Kicks & Keeper Distribution: Defensive Positioning Opponents must leave opposing “Defensive Third” for Goal Kicks or

when GK has control of ball; (offensive team can kick before defenders leave) Key Points For Goal Kicks And Goal Keeper Distribution • Goal Kick can be taken and Goal

Keeper can release ball before opponent falls back behind the Build Out Line • Once opponents move out past the BOL the Goal Keeper will have 6 secs. to release the ball (not frequently called in 10U) • Ideally a Goal Keeper or player taking a Goal Kick will wait to put the ball into play once all opponents are past the Build Out Line however , the Goal Keeper or player can put the ball into play sooner but does so accepting the position of the

opponents and the consequences of how play resumes (opponents may win the ball).
