The Most Holy Body and Blood of Christ June 14, 2020
Parish Announcements:
WELCOME BACK HOME It has been about three months since parishes across the Diocese have been closed. We rejoice with you and welcome you with open doors to the church to once again resume public Masses—with safety measures in place. Though we are back, we are limited to the number of people that can attend at any given Mass. Therefore, until it is deemed safe to have the church at full capacity, the Bishop keeps with the dispensation to attend Mass on Sundays and Holy days. We encourage parishioners to attend Mass during the week in order to spread out attendance, espe-cially since reservations for Sunday Masses fill up fast.
No Collection Basket During Mass
Passing the collection basket during our Sunday Masses seems like part of the liturgy of the Mass, since we are so used to it. We will not, however, be passing around the basket. Instead we will have a permanent collection box inside the church in the vestibule. As you go into the church, we invite you to deposit your donation before you are directed to your seat. Here are other ways you can donate to St. Justin: • Electronic Giving: Join the parishioners who are
using Faith Direct for automated giving. Faith Di-rect offers a safe and secure way to donate to our parish in this time of uncertainty. There is no cost to you, and the program provides a great benefit to our parish.
• Text-to-Give: Text 'Enroll' to 714-276-6130. You can also sign up through our website saintjus-tin.org, or go to membership.faithdirect.net/CA879 .
• You can do a one time gift by texting dollar amount $ to 714-276-6130.
• Bill Pay through your Bank App. Payee name: Saint Justin Martyr Church. 2050 West Ball Road, Anaheim, CA 92804. For account number, use your envelope number.
• Mail a check. (it is not recommended to mail cash) Payable to Saint Justin Martyr Church. 2050 West Ball Road, Anaheim CA 92804.
St. Justin Martyr needs your financial sup-port now more than ever!
Missalettes Available for Purchase
We have the Ordinary Time missalettes that are generally in the pews available for a donation. To avoid shared touched objects, we will not have any in the pew. Instead you can purchase one to take and bring with you when attending Mass. They will be available beginning June 13-14 in the shelter area. You can pick one up and drop your donation in the box.
Suggested donation $5.
Confessions Schedule Confessions are back with safety measures in place. They will be taking place in the shelter area and the parish center patio. Marks on the wall will be placed to maintain social distance. Please wear a facemask. New confession schedule: Saturdays 3:30 PM to 4:30 PM Wednesdays: 5:30 PM to 6:30 PM Confessions will be English and Spanish.
Safety Guidelines
As we reopen the church for Mass, the following safety guidelines need to be followed:
• Facemasks must be worn during the entire time in all church property and buildings—parking lot included. You may briefly remove facemask when receiving communion on the hand to con-sume.
Before entering the church building for Mass: • Be prepared to have your temperature checked. • Put on hand sanitizer as you enter the church—
entrance will be by Ball Road doors. • Sitting will start at the front to the back, as di-
rected by hospitality volunteers. • If not receiving communion, please also exit the
pew to avoid anyone crossing over each other.
In the Parish Office: • We will be admitting one person at a time (or
two if from the same household).
In the parking lot: • Please practice social distance and enter/exit
the property swiftly.

TODAY'S READINGS
First Reading — Never forget the LORD your God, who brought you out of slavery (Deuteronomy 8:2-3, 14b-16a). Psalm — Praise the Lord, Jerusalem (Psalm 147). Second Reading — Because the loaf of bread is one, we who partake of it, though we are many, are one body (1 Corinthians 10:16-17). Gospel — Jesus said, “I am the living bread; who-ever eats this bread will live forever” (John 6:51-58). The English translation of the Psalm Responses from Lectionary for Mass © 1969, 1981, 1997, International Commission on English in the Liturgy Corporation. All rights reserved.
We Pray for the Deceased
Please pray for these members of our parish family who passed away recently:
Joseph DeRobbio Maureen Lentsch
May their souls and all the souls of the faithful departed rest in peace.
Spiritual communion
The Holy Father invites all those watching or listening to the lit-urgy of the Mass to make a spiritual communion. He uses the pray-er composed by St. Alphonsus di Liguori:
My Jesus, I believe that You are present in the Most Blessed Sacrament.
I love You above all things, and I desire to receive You into my soul.
Since I cannot now receive you sacramentally, come at least spiritually into my heart.
I embrace You as if you were already there, and I unite myself wholly to You.
Never permit me to be separated from You.
FOOD FROM HEAVEN God sustained the people of Israel for forty years in the desert with manna sent down from heaven, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget it. God brought forth water from stone for them to drink, and Moses doesn’t want them to forget this, either. And Moses tells them—twice—that the food that God sent was a food that neither they nor their ancestors before them had ever ex-perienced before. Jesus too speaks of food come down from heav-en, food that the Jewish people had never experi-enced before. Recalling the manna in the desert, Jesus doesn’t want them to forget it either, ex-plaining that he is the food and drink of eternal life. And Paul reiterates to the Corinthians and to all of us that in the bread and in the cup, we share in the body and blood of Christ. Copyright © J. S. Paluch Co.
TRANSFORMATION
The effect of our sharing in the Body and Blood of Christ is to change us into what we receive. —Pope St. Leo the Great
Volunteers Needed:
We need help to be able to ensure everyone’s safety. Hospi-tality volunteers will be checking temperatures, reservations, directing flow of movement, sitting people, and cleaning touched areas after Mass.
If we cannot get enough volunteers to ensure safety measures we will not be able to move forward in reopening for public Masses.
If you are younger than 65 and at least 16 years old (with parent’s permission) and in relatively good health, please vol-unteer by calling the parish office or online:
https://signup.com/go/NZcBawd Volunteers do not need make Mass reservations—except for addition-al non-volunteer family members.
Prayer to Overcome Racism
Mary, friend and mother to all, through your Son, God has found a way to unite himself to every human being, called to be one peo-ple, sisters and brothers to each other.
We ask for your help in calling on your Son, seeking forgiveness for the times when we have failed to love and respect one another.
We ask for your help in obtaining from your Son the grace we need to overcome the evil of racism and to build a just society.
We ask for your help in following your Son, so that prejudice and animosity will no longer infect our minds or hearts but will be re-placed with a love that respects the dignity of each person. Mother of the Church, the Spirit of your Son Jesus warms our hearts: pray for us.
Amen. www.usccb.org/racism

Food Distribution Our St. Vincent DePaul volunteers give out food on the second and fourth Saturdays of each month from 8 a.m. to 10 a.m. in the back parking lot.
Our next dates are June 13 and 27
This is drive-through distribution of pre-packaged food.
Food Donations Needed Our group of St. Vincent de Paul dis-tributes food bimonthly. Since the be-ginning of the pandemic, they have had an increase of families and indi-viduals who have been coming to re-ceive groceries. However, their food pantry is rapidly being depleted. They are in need of non-perishable food and can goods Pick up and extra item on your next grocery trip and donate it to SVDP to help someone who is struggling right now to put food on their table.
Help us to continue to help others.
Thank you to our volunteers from The Lord’s Vineyard Community (TLV) who stepped-up to assist our Saint Vincent de Paul group to prepare boxes of food dona-tions and distribute them.
Our Newly Ordained Priest: Fr. Alejandro Nicolat
Congratulations to our resident transitional deacon, now the Reverent Alejandro Nicolat on his Ordination to the Priesthood on June 6, 2020. Fr. Alejandro was one of the four transitional deacons who were ordained by Bishop Kevin Vann to serve in our Diocese of Orange. The Ordination Mass was closed to the public, only two family members of the new priest were allowed in, along with a few handpicked priest. Fr. Alejandro was assigned as parochial vicar to Saint Justin beginning July 1, 2020. Mass was livestream on the Diocese website. You can still view the complete Mass on this YouTube: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eWvWiPbXpzk Please continue to pray for Fr. Alejandro as he begins this journey of service to the church.

Prayer for Priests: Gracious and loving God, we thank your for the gift of our priests. Through them, we experience your presence in the sacraments. Help our priests to be strong in their vocation. Set their souls on fire with love for your people. Grant them the wisdom, understanding, and strength they need to follow in the footsteps of Jesus. Inspire them with the vision of your Kingdom. Give them the words they need to spread the Gospel. Allow them to experience joy in their ministry. Help them to become instruments of your divine grace. We ask this through Jesus Christ, who lives and reigns as our Eternal Priest. Amen.

PRAYER TO OUR LADY, HEALTH OF THE SICK DURING THE CORONA-
VIRUS PANDEMIC
O Mary, You shine continuously on our journey as a sign of salvation and hope.
We entrust ourselves to you, Health of the Sick, who, at the Cross, united with Jesus’ pain, keeping your faith firm.
You, Salvation of the Roman people, know what we need, and we trust that you will provide for those needs so that, as at Cana of Galilee, joy and celebration may return after this mo-ment of trial.
Help us, Mother of Divine Love, to conform ourselves to the will of the Father and to do what Jesus tells us. He who took our suffering upon Him-self, and burdened Himself with our sorrows to bring us, through the Cross, to the joy of Resurrection. Amen.
We seek refuge under your protection, O Holy Mother of God. Do not despise our pleas — we who are put to the test — and deliver us from every danger. O glorious and blessed Virgin. —Pope Francis, March 11, 2020 © Libreria Editrice Vaticana

REFLEXIONES SOBRE LA PALABRA
Primera lectura — El hombre no vive sola-
Evangelio — El que come mi carne y bebe
¿Envía segadores y no sembradores?
— Deuteronomio 8:3b
