GRADES 4-12
GRADES K-3 GRADES 4-12
1. FACE-TO-FACE OPERATIONS• Classes will begin at 7:50 a.m. and will dismiss at 3:10 p.m. Students will be marked tardy after 8:00 a.m.• The Extended Learning Program will be offered from 3:10 - 6:00 p.m. beginning Monday, August 24.
HEALTHY AT MODEL CAMPAIGN• Masks that cover the nose and mouth will be required for faculty, staff, visitors, and students in grades 1 - 12.
Masks should include multiple layers of fabric.• Masks will be optional for students in kindergarten.• If a student has a medical exemption to wearing a face mask, Model recommends that the family apply for
remote instruction.• Students will have daily temperature checks. Students with a fever of over 100°F will be sent home.• Individuals in the building will be social distancing as much as possible.• Students will have lunches in their classrooms.• There will be limited visitors in the building.• In place of large gatherings, assemblies, or events, there will be virtual events throughout the year.• There will be limited sharing of resources, and enhanced cleaning procedures.• Counseling services will continue to be provided throughout the week as needed.• Model will have scheduled outdoor lunch rotations.• Teachers may implement periodic outdoor classes.• Recess and physical education will remain a part of the school day.
2. REMOTE INSTRUCTION OPERATIONSElected – The student’s parent(s)/guardian(s) elect for the student to participate in fully remote instruction for the entirety of the Fall 2020 Semester.
Required – If a student has been confirmed with a case of COVID-19 or if a student has been identified through contact tracing, they will be required to self-isolate/quarantine. They will receive instruction remotely until they are given clearance from their healthcare provider or the local health department to return
Nontraditional Instruction (NTI) – Nontraditional instruction is an alternate form of learning that would replace face-to-face instruction school-wide. NTI will occur if the federal, state, or local government orders it, or if there is a high percentage of confirmed cases in the school, or if the school is unable to adequately provide educational services because of faculty/staff absences due to confirmed cases or contact tracing.
• All K-12 students will meet for a minimum of two (2) remote contact sessions per week with additionalassignments in the interim.
• These sessions will be virtual classes with teachers and other students.• Support and accommodations as specified by a student’s 504 or IEP plans will be implemented virtually.• All students enrolled at Model will receive instruction on the same skills, content, goals, and objectives of their
course(s)/class.• Counseling services will continue to be provided throughout the week as needed.
Protocols are based on recommendations and requirements from federal, state, and local agencies, as well as the Kentucky Department of Education and Eastern Kentucky University (EKU).
Our guidelines may change based on public health situation and/or guidance from the federal, state, regional, local, or University organizations.

Dear Model Family,
With the new school year rapidly approaching, the Model Parent Organization (MPO) welcomes you back to Model. This year will be different for our school, which will change some of our programs and events. We will keep everyone updated on our events and programs, so please follow us on Facebook @Model Parent Organization, Inc. and sign up for our email list.
We are excited to announce that our large annual fundraiser will change from Great American to the Boosterthon program this year! It will be held in the spring. More information will be sent out as the event gets closer.
We Need Your Help!! As a parent you are automatically a member of the Model Parent Organization. We encourage and look forward to your participation.
MPO raises funds throughout the year for teacher/student resources, and also organizes events/programs for our school.
You Are the Future of Model Parent Organization! Parent participation is essential to ensure that these activities continue.
If you are interested in coordinating or participating in an event please email [email protected] and I will gladly provide additional details about these opportunities.
MPO is looking forward to another great school year!
Gerald Tatum MPO President
Kroger Fundraising Information As many of you know, Model participates in the Kroger Fundraising program each year. I have listed below the details of what you will need to do to get signed up for the new program. All you have to do is register your Kroger Plus card number online. The main purpose of ALL funds raised from this will be to go toward class trips that will start in 5th grade and continue through 8th grade. We will continue for the high school classes for other trips, Project Graduation and expenses that will occur.
Here’s how it works: All you need to do is enroll your Kroger Plus card number at Kroger.com/community rewards. You will need to pick the number that is linked your child’s year of graduation or current grade year (see back of this sheet). You can only have your Kroger Plus Card number linked to one organization at a time. You no longer have to re-register every year like in the past. Once you are registered, you will stay with that group unless you change it. The money raised for each class will come off the overall cost of each student equally.
How we earn money: With this program they will disburse funds to each organization based on the amount that you spend each quarter. There isn’t a certain percent that we will earn for purchases. The amounts will be various since it will be based on the amount of spending by each organization. The more it’s used, the more we will make.
If you have questions about the program you can email [email protected].
Thank you for your support!!!
