This year’s Walk for Life— complete with a 5k, Kid’s Sprint, and Diaper Dash— had participants ranging in age from 2 months– 79 years old!! And what a fun time was had by all as we gathered to celebrate life on September 9th! We were able to spend the morning together in fellowship and worship (while eating lots of donuts! ) as we prayed for the mothers we see at the center on a daily basis & the unborn. Whether it was your first time or the tenth time; whether you were able to join us or supported us from afar, thank you to everyone who helped make the Walk for Life a success! Your generous contributions have given our project manager freedom to make necessary building improvements that will enable us to serve our clients in a more professional manner for years to come. But the work is not done yet! We are currently getting new drywall installed and are simultaneously working to furnish this new 3,864 sq. ft. building. Can we continue to count on you for your ongoing support in this amazing endeavor? Summary of Work to Date: Carl Combs, our tireless project manager, has worked with 24 volunteers to donate & complete 132 hours of work on the building, which is equivalent to about $3,000 in labor costs (free to FLS). Thank you, Carl! A special thanks to Christensen’s Plant Center for donating the hardscape for the front/side of our building. Thanks to the individuals who were able to help plant it all as well. Making Progress– Building Update

This update would not be complete without an outstanding thank you to all of you

who have responded with such positivity and enthusiasm about the move FLS will

be making to 840 Maus Ave. this upcoming Dec/Jan. Your generous contributions

have given our project manager freedom to make necessary building improvements

that will enable us to serve our clients in a more professional manner for years to

I’ll Help Make it a Success!

Welcome Becky! We are excited to announce the addition of Becky Gutkowski

to the Family Life Service’s team as our Education Coordinator!

She is directing the launch of our “Growing Together” education

program, which will commence as we move to our new building.

The program includes weekly parenting and life skills classes,

“Play & Learn” classes for parents and toddlers, Bible studies,

and individualized curriculum lessons led by counselors.

Becky has a bachelor’s in education from U-M and a master’s in

reading from EMU. She taught for over 22 years, and was twice

awarded the SEMMLAA Outstanding Teacher of the Year Award

at Mill Creek Middle School.

Becky has been involved in ministries through her church and

women’s Bible studies for many years. She lives on Ford Lake in

Ypsilanti with her husband Ron and energetic labradoodle, Zoe.
