My dear Parishioners, On this Feast of the Epiphany, we join our Christian sisters
and brothers of the Eastern Churches in celebrating the
manifestation of Christ to all the peoples of the world. This
ancient celebration is marked by the story of the Magi,
“outsiders” who traveled from afar bearing gifts for the
newborn Savior. This beautiful Feast comes as a powerful reminder that
Jesus did not enter this world to found an exclusive club or
to create distinctions among the various races and cultural
groups across the world. No, he came for everyone, joining
the human family and initiating a movement, powered by
his very own Spirit, to bring all of us together as one hu-
man family. Today, some two thousand years after his appearance, it
seems that there has been very little progress in this divine
effort. This is certainly not due to any deficiency on the
divine level. Sadly, the lack of progress is due to the un-
willingness of humankind to shoulder its share of the task.
Unfortunately, even now some who call themselves Chris-
tian cannot muster the courage or bear the humility to ac-
cept fellow-Christians as their equals before God. A divid-
ed Christianity cannot sound a clear call to unity, harmony
and peace to the rest of the world. This Jubilee Year of
Mercy affords all Christians a unique opportunity to strive
for a deeper understanding of one another and a sincere
effort to work together for the sake of God’s Kingdom.
— Fr. Jerome, C.P.
A Word of Thanks
We wish to thank all our parishioners who participated in our Christmas celebrations:
Parents and Catechists who prepared our children for the beautiful Christmas
Pageant, and all the children and youth who made it happen;
Those who cleaned and decorated our sanctuary and tended the sacristy;
The members of our various ministries whose presence and service enhanced
our liturgical celebrations; And, on a more personal level, we
thank all who have sent cards and greetings, gifts and food to us. It is a
pleasure and a privilege to serve you as your priests.
Father Jerome, C.P. and Fr. Alberto, C.P.

REMEMBER IN YOUR PRAYERS
EXTRAORDINARY JUBILEE YEAR OF MERCY
On December 8th, 2015, Feast of the Immaculate
Conception, Pope Francis inaugurated
a Jubilee Year of Mercy, reminding us of how merciful
God is toward us and how we, in return,
should act mercifully toward others.
St. Paul of the Cross Parish is taking part in this Holy
Year of Mercy. Look for announcements in this Bulletin
during the year. Meanwhile, there are many special
Holy Year of Mercy flyers and prayer cards on the table
at the rear of the church. Be sure to take your pick and
learn more about the meaning of this special Holy Year.
Our Holy Father has composed a beautiful pray for the
Holy Year of Mercy. It may be found on the
card bearing his picture on the front.
Why not pray it every day?
