Homework I will assign homework some school nights. This includes a math paper and reading aloud to someone. Monday’s assigned homework can be returned on Thursday. Every child is responsible for doing his/her homework. Homework is a review of what has been learned in class. Students should be able to complete assignments independently; however, support from the HOMEWORK HELPER may be needed. PLEASE check your child’s homework for accuracy. I usually do not have time to thoroughly check each child’s homework and count on you to “be the teacher” at home. Homework assignments are sent home weekly in the packet.
IllnessResearch indicates that students are the most successful when they attend school regularly. Of course, I do understand that students become ill from time to time.
If your child is absent, please send a written excuse the next school day. Upon returning to school, I will send home any make-up work to be completed at home and returned to school.
BirthdaysYour child will be recognized on his/her birthday and is more than welcome to bring in treats.
I ask that the treats be something that is quick and easy for the students to eat. Treats must be store bought. Try to avoid sending anything that has been made using peanut products.
To avoid hurt feelings, please talk to Mrs. Gilletti prior to distributing birthday invitations at school.
AttendanceStudents should not bring any type of toy to school as toys are a disruption to classroom learning.
Please make sure your child gets enough sleep. Well-rested, alert children are more successful in school.
School starts at 8:55. Students that are eating breakfast may arrive at 8:40. Please help your child arrive to school on time each day. Important instruction occurs at the beginning of each day.
It is extremely important to keep the lines of communication open between home and school.
I will make every effort to keep you informed of your child’s progress here at school. (newsletters, notes, phone calls).
I hope you will also feel comfortable contacting me with any concerns or questions. I am best reached 8:15-8:55 AM or 3:45-4:15 PM. I do not take phone calls during the school day, but you are welcome to leave a message.
