Welcome Home Coalition | Job Announcement Job Title: Development and Communications Assistant Reports to: Coalition Director Compensation: $15-$17 per hour| 20 hours per week |Flexible schedule, location Close date: Open until filled | Posted: March 15 th , 2016 The Welcome Home Coalition values diversity in its workforce and is an equal opportunity employer Overview The Welcome Home Coalition is 18 months along in its development as a region-wide Coalition dedicated to affordable housing solutions. This work has been led by the Coalition Director under the direction of the Steering Committee and with dynamic support from several volunteer working teams. We seek a collaborative partner to join this small staff but large operation, to assist in creating and implementing our development and communications strategies. This position will support the fast- paced and highly creative activities of the Coalition and act as a strategic thought-partner as we develop the long-term vision for the organization. We are excited to expand our team and can’t wait to see where we go from here! Communications Responsibilities: Implement a strategic communications plan, developed in partnership with the Coalition Director. Create communications materials including newsletters, educational materials, social media posts and website updates. Engage Coalition member organizations as strategic partners to expand communications reach and improve message coordination. Provide event support including planning, space reservations, materials, advertising, and volunteer and vendor coordination. Development Responsibilities: Implement a development strategy, developed in partnership with the Coalition Director and Steering Committee Finance Chair. Prepare and deliver written appeals to individuals and coalition member organizations. Provide donor and member support including donor follow-up and invoice tracking. Manage grant applications and reports; assist with grant writing and application assembly. Desired Experience 2-5 years of development and communications experience preferred Familiarity with social media and online communications platforms Excellent writing and strategic messaging skills with an eye for design Hands-on high achiever who is inspired by making a lasting difference in our community Proactive communicator who can relate on a meaningful level with a broad spectrum of stakeholders including volunteers, coalition members, executive leadership and elected officials Self-starter who sets and achieves tough goals; meets commitments regardless of obstacles, thinks strategically, executes impeccably with a strong, clear, and simple communication style.
