LAGO VISTA ACTIVITIES

As 2017 came to an end, we can surely say it was another good year for Lago Vista! Under the coordination of Carole Drew, the activities were outstanding as usual and each committee did a fabulous job creating memorable parties. Also, we had approximately 43 new/resold homes bringing friendly new neighbors; many of whom attended all of our activities and some even participated in the planning!

Speaking of planning, we are working on our 2018 activities calendar and are in need of some volunteers. We are still looking for committees for the following months: MARCH (which is right around the corner so planning needs to commence), OCTOBER & NOVEMBER.

You do not have to do the traditional thing, for instance, March does not have to be a St. Patrick’s Day Party (the saying “Everyone is Irish on St. Patrick’s Day” was probably passed around by the owners of a certain type of establishment).

You can do whatever type of function you can imagine (within the rules of Lago, of course). So don’t be shy, new people = new ideas. Come share your talent and make new friends along the way. Contact Cheryl at the Clubhouse and arrange a meeting to pitch your ideas.

Book: South of Broad Author: Pat Conroy

Leopold Bloom King has been raised in a family shattered—and shadowed—by tragedy. Lonely and adrift, he searches for something to sustain him and finds it among a tightly knit group of outsiders. Surviving marriages happy and troubled, unrequited loves and unspoken longings, hard-won successes and devastating breakdowns, as well as Charleston, divisions, these friends will endure until a final test forces them to face something none of them are pre-pared for.

Spanning two turbulent decades, South of Broad is Pat Conroy at his finest: a masterpiece from a great American writer whose passion for life and language knows no bounds.

Did You Know

Holiday Garbage Pick Up

Garbage/recycling will not be picked up on New Year’s Day,

Memorial Day, 4th of July, Labor Day,

Thanksgiving, or Christmas Day.

It will be collected 1 day after your normal pick up day.

Winter Reminders

Roads will be plowed after 2 inches of snowfall per our contract.

The gates may be in an upright posi-tion at times to allow snow plows

access to our roads. ALWAYS use caution when approach-

ing the gates, but particularly in inclement weather. Clear your walkways for shoveling. (Make sure your walkways are clear of wires and all objects such as Christmas lights, Christmas decorations, Malibu lights etc.) No one is allowed on the frozen ponds

in the Wintertime. If your dryer vent is only 2-3 feet off

the ground make sure it is clear of snow and ice before using.

The cereal donations were a huge success. We collected 80 boxes of cereal for The S.O.S. Children’s Village in Lockport. Many thanks to all the generous people of Lago Vista. We have the best people in the world as our neighbors. Thanks to Nancy Ziegler for organizing this event.
