Dear Mariner Families,

Greetings and happy summer! I hope everyone is enjoying this time off! Although it feels like the school year has just ended, we are already preparing for the next one. In addition to welcoming our new students and families, Moreau is thrilled to welcome several new faculty and staff members for the 2021-2022 school year. As the new school year approaches, you will receive biographies and more details about these talented individuals who join us in our commitment to outstanding achievement through the academic, social and spiritual formation and transformation of our students.

To help everyone have a successful start, we share some very important information in this booklet. Please read this information carefully and note the dates and deadlines as they apply to you. There is a special section, beginning on page 11, dedicated to our new students.

We will begin our school year on Friday, August 6th with our Frosh Orientation and Picture Day (7:30 a.m.-2:45 p.m.). Our first full day of school for everyone is on Tuesday, August 10th. While Picture Day for Frosh will take place on their Orientation Day, the 10th & 11th grade photos will be taken on Wednesday, August 11th. Senior photos will be on July 29th & 30th by appointment only.

Since we could not officially welcome the Class of 2024 last school year, we will have an abbreviated Sophomore Orientation on Monday, August 9th, from 12:00 p.m.-3:00 p.m., along with our Transfer Student Orientation. Parents and guardians are invited to attend to meet with members of the Leadership Team.

Please remember that all students are required to be in compliance with our Appearance Code (p. 9) on their first day of school. Apparel can be purchased from SportsPacks by visiting SportsPacks (www.sportpacks.com/moreaucatholichs).

We invite all parents and guardians to join us for our Opening of School Liturgy on Wednesday, August 25, 2021 at 9:40 a.m. We will be celebrating the Mass of the Holy Spirit with our community of faith and all are welcome. For additional event dates, please refer to page 4.

Back to School Night will be held on Thursday, August 26th. This is an important night for our entire community to continue to form relationships and build partnerships; all parents and guardians are strongly encouraged to attend. I look forward to seeing you there!

Each year, Moreau Catholic celebrates one of four different themes that connect to our Holy Cross charism: Building Respect, Educating Hearts & Minds, Being Family, and Bringing Hope.

This year’s theme is Educating Hearts and Minds and we are committed to following Blessed Basil Moreau’s directive to “always place education side by side with instruction; the mind will not be cultivated at the expense of the heart.”

Whether you are new to our Mariner family or have been members for generations, we are honored to welcome you home. I am excited to serve as your next principal and am incredibly grateful to you for the myriad gifts you bring to Moreau Catholic. We look forward to partnering with you to form our students and transform our world. May the remaining summer days rejuvenate and inspire you. Until then, God bless and take good care! See you in August!

With fondness and appreciation,

Colleen Galloway ’77, Principal
