The Student Council have been very proactive in asking for an end of term event to include all students and staff, hence the idea of an All Day Disco was born, which includes a Free Dress Day. Due to the restrictions which have impacted all events so far this year, I thought it very fitting that we provide an opportunity for students to have a social event to mark the half way point of the year. Refer to the flyer in this Newsletter and Facebook post, which contains all necessary information. The All Day Disco will be run in accordance with mass gathering restrictions as students will be broken into three groups to participate in the disco in the Multi Purpose Hall. The Free Dress Day with a “NEON Colours” theme is run as a fundraiser with all monies going to the Student Council. A free sausage sizzle will be provided for all students at first break. Across Week 9 and 10 of this term our staff are engaged in moderation meetings where teachers work in small groups to collaboratively review samples of student work to standardise judgements against the relevant achievement standards. Through these professional conversations and by dissecting samples of student work teachers are able to develop a shared understanding of the demands of the curriculum to ensure fairness, consistency and reliability of student achievement. This moderation processes ensures alignment of curriculum, pedagogy, assessment and reporting practices through professional conversations that build teaching expertise, provide consistency of practice and informs differentiation to meet individual student needs. Assessment and moderation is planned as part of the whole school curriculum, assessment and reporting plan and is included in each of the three levels of planning. Ingham State School in conjunction with the P&C believe that wearing a school uniform assists students to be an equal within the school and feel proud to be a part of the Ingham State School community. We encourage all students to wear a clean, tidy and well-maintained uniform, which boosts self-esteem and helps students to feel a part of the ‘ISS Team’. In recent weeks, I have noticed a decline in students adhering with the School Uniform Policy. On occasion, it has been noted that some students are wearing different coloured skorts and shorts as part of their uniform. In my opinion a school uniform instils a culture for students to dress smartly and take pride in their appearance. Perhaps most importantly, a uniform means students don't have to worry about peer pressure when it comes to their choice in clothes. When everyone is dressed the same, worrying about what you look like isn't so important. I again remind our school community that the P&C AGM will be held on Tuesday 23rd June at 7:00pm in the Staff Room. This meeting will be conducted whilst observing social distancing protocols for the benefit of members in attendance. I encourage all Parents and Citizens to consider becoming a part of this very important committee which contributes so much support and assistance to the school for the benefit of our young people. The P&C are always keen to welcome new members as fresh ideas are always necessary. Regards Kevin Barnes Principal P&C AGM MEETING Tuesday 23 June 2020 7.00pm Venue: Staff Room Everyone welcome! Please note that the last school day of Term 2 will be Thursday 25 June. Friday, 26 June is officially the Ingham Show holiday.

“All Day Disco” is the name of the end of term activity we have planned for Thursday 25 June.

It is extremely important for you to check your child’s head for head lice on a regular

basis and notify the school office if detected or suspected.

If you do find head lice, commence treatment immediately and be sure to complete the process of treatment. This will

help prevent head lice from spreading. Remember to keep checking your family member’s heads every 2 days until

there are no head lice found for 10 consecutive days.

For further information regarding treating head lice, refer to the Department of Health’s Head Lice Fact Sheet

available at:

http://conditions.health.qld.gov.au/HealthCondition/condition/14/165/351/Head-Lice

Your local pharmacist can provide advice regarding head lice treatment options and head lice combs.

Because head lice need close head-to-head contact to spread from one person to another, to reduce the spread of

head lice, teachers will discourage students from activities which may involve head to head contact.

To reduce your child’s risk of getting head lice, make sure that long hair is tied up and discourage children from sharing

their brushes and combs/ hats and having head to head contact with others.

Remember - Anyone can get head lice – they have no preferences for cleanliness, hair colour, hair type, ethnicity or

age.

Instrumental Music

Lesson DaysWoodwind/Brass with Mrs Gunston – Thursday Strings with Mrs Wright – Wednesday afternoon (Year 4’s) and Friday

It has been wonderful to see that some of our students have obviously been putting in extra practice at home on their instruments over the past few weeks –you can hear the progress that those students have made on their instruments. Please remember that all students should be aiming to practice their instrument for at least 5 days per week.

Thank you to those students who have been remembering to bring their instruments every week since we have returned to school. If your child has been forgetting, maybe organising some sort of reminder, such as setting a weekly alarm on a phone will be a great way to remind students to bring their instruments to school on their lesson day!

If you have any questions regarding the instrumental music program, please contact either Mrs Wright or Mrs Gunston.
