EXCITING NEWS FOR KIRKWOOD SILVER! We will be having a Box Lunch Picnic in the
KW parking lot this Thursday, October 15th at 11:30 a.m. The box lunches will be
prepared by Honey Baked Ham Co. and Cafe and will include a delicious
sandwich or salad, chips, and cookie. See meal choices here. Call Wanda B. by
tomorrow, October 12th with your meal selection. The cost will be $10, to be paid
by cash or check to Jim B. at the picnic. You will need to bring your own chair,
beverage, and, of course, your mask! If you don't have a yard chair, we will have
extras available. Social distancing and masks will be high priority!
Q. and A. Open Forum this Wednesday, 10/14, 6:00 - 6:45 p.m.
Pastor Chris and a few Elders will be available via Zoom this Wednesday to field
your questions, ideas, etc. Drop by the Zoom meeting anytime between 6:00 -
6:45 p.m. to ask questions and give us any feedback; we're not expecting anyone
to stay the whole 45 min., just pop in and out whenever your schedule allows.
This is one more way that your pastor and Session are trying to stay accessible to
you during CoVid; expect these to happen periodically going forward.

The Meals for Vets
We are continuing our Vet Meal Mission by providing meals for 2 Vet homes (5 men in each home) every Monday and Thursday. These homes support Vets transitioning from
homelessness. Please consider assisting in this mission by fixing a casserole for 5 men. You can sign up through Signup Genius or call Gloria at 757-223- 4104/757-719-0995 or Zora at 757-833-6406/757-869-3784 and they will sign you up, answer
questions, and arrange for pickup.
Clothing for the Homeless
Please donate new or clean and gently used clothing for the homeless and the needy. There is a box labeled “Clothing Donations” in the Narthex. All clothing items are needed, especially socks and under garments for men and women... Books are needed, too.
Building Use
If you're a part of a group that would like to use our facility, please route that
request through the church office. Our Session has recently created guidelines
for the building's use, and we want to ensure that every group is following them.
When you contact the church office, we'll give you those guidelines, as well as
help find you a suitable room in which to meet. Thanks for your help in this!
KirkWood Shirts - Outreach will be ordering long-
sleeved Kirkwood logo T-shirts in purple, navy blue, and
Carolina blue at a cost of $12.00 each, adult sizes small
thru 3XL. Call or email June R. or Toni F. by Oct. 31st if you
would like one. Payment upon delivery.
Contact June at 757-867-9022 ([email protected])
or Toni at 719-237-1156 ([email protected])
Young Adults – We’re curious if there’s a need or desire for a young adults group here at KW? Think ages 18-25. If a group like that would meet a need for you, let Pastor Chris know ([email protected]), and we’ll work on getting it started soon. Also, if you feel called to help lead this group, please contact Pastor Chris.
Need a Small Group? So much of the richness of church life comes from relational connection - and that happens best outside of a Sunday morning worship service. The need of this small group connection is heightened due to CoVid; so many of us feel disconnected and alone, and we need to plug in and support one another. Are you without a small group or adult Sunday School class right now? If so, we'd like to help you get engaged in a group, which may mean KW creating a few new ones. These might meet via Zoom or in-person, if done safely. Interested? Let Rich Egyud ([email protected]) or Pastor Chris know ([email protected]).
2020 Pumpkin Patch
We need your help!
1. Our second delivery date is Saturday, October 17th! The pumpkins will arrive
in big bins that will be moved into the patch area with a forklift “appropriately”
distanced. A family group or a small group (2-3 persons) will be assigned to
empty each bin onto pallets. Masks are required. Please plan to arrive at
10AM on Oct. 17th to help.
2. The Pumpkin Patch SignUpGenius is up and running. Please volunteer for a
2-hour shift in the Pumpkin Patch. The Pumpkin Patch area will be set up to
keep distances, have plexiglass shields, require masks under the canopy, and
procedures to keep surfaces cleaned.
Hours are shorter this year:
Monday to Thursday: 2pm – 7pm
Friday: 2pm – 8pm
Saturday: 10am – 8pm
Sunday: Noon – 6pm
The link to the SignUpGenius is:

If you can’t access the website, contact Arba to sign up in person.
If you have questions, please contact Jen C. or Elisabeth K.
One Great Hour of Sharing - Next Sunday, October 18th will be the OGHS dedication. One way that KirkWood can respond to the needs of others is by supporting ministries of compassion and justice through “One Great Hour of Sharing” (OGHS). Please continue to bring in your OGHS Donations (Fish Boxes), there's a basket as you enter the sanctuary for them (Note: If you have a fish box to donate but do not plan to visit the church building please call the church office or anyone on the Mission Committee and we will make arrangements to pick it up from you).
These Days – This is your last chance to sign up for a
2021 subscription for These Days devotional books.
Please call or email the church office by Tuesday,
October 13th and leave a message. The subscription
is $6.00. You can put a check in the offering plate (or
mail it). Please write your offering number and “These
Days” on the memo line.
Pastor Chris is usually in the office Sunday – Thursday Please call the office or email Chris before coming.
