Welcome to worship! Whether this is your first time or you have been part of this faith family for 40 years, we are excited that you are here. We wel-come those who know the Bible and those who think the book of Job is a help wanted column. We worship in Spirit and Truth, seeking a sense of joy. Allow God to heal, encourage, and equip you to live, not just survive, your life. Once again, welcome!

What you should know about diabetes

November is Diabetes awareness month. Diabetes is a chronic disease that occurs either when the pancreas does not produce enough insulin and /or when the body cannot effectively use the insulin it produces. For Type 1 Diabetes they cannot predict the chances of

getting it. For Type 2 Diabetes there are steps you can take to help prevent it.

Heath risks for uncontrolled Diabetes are: heart attack, stroke, foot problems / amputations, vision problems / blind-ness, dental problems, kidney damage, infections, problems with pregnancy.

Diabetes is a complex and challenging disease involving many factors and variables. Preventive care for Type 2 Diabe-tes includes taking care of your body by: increasing your activity, controlling portion sizes, a healthy eating plan and stop smoking. Talk to your Doctor being making any lifestyle changes and diabetes prevention.

Websites to access for additional information: American Diabetes Association - (diabetes.org) – you can find a diabetes risk assessment here. (ChooseMyPlate.gov) for portion sizes. ( www.baycare.org/Diabetes) – they have free meal plans you can download, prediabetes education and additional information and classes available. Also note the YMCA in New Port Richey has pre- diabetes classes.
