False Gods: Then and Now(Isaiah 46)
STUDY
Babylon, destruction awaits you and your gods (vv. 1, 2).
Israel, follow the LORD, not the gods of Babylon (vv. 3, 4).
Babylon, you have foolishly worshiped lifeless gods (vv.5-7).
Israel, remember that I alone am God (vv. 8-10).
Babylon, judgment is coming from the east (v. 11).
Israel, listen to Me, for I am ready to set things right (vv.12, 13).
CONCLUSION
False gods that we create and worship are sustained by usand carried by us, and they will eventually lead to ourdemise. Therefore, we must worship the Lord God alone.

Applying Today’s Sermon to Your Life
1. Besides houses, cars, money, possessions, goals, hobbies, our marriage, our families and our self-image,what other gods do people worship?
2. What did I mean when I said that it costs something tocreate a false god? Do you agree or disagree? Why?
3. What did I mean when I said that those who create falsegods bear the weight of that false god? Do you agreeor disagree? Why?
4. What things have you worshiped in the past and why?In what ways did you believe those things werefulfilling you?
5. One hundred years from now, what might Christianssay believers in the 21st century were blind to? Whatfalse gods would they accuse us of worshiping?
6. We know that God truly is our provider, yet it’s soeasy to place faith and trust in false gods and not theLord. Why?
7. In what ways is Romans 2:24 and 25 related to thisdiscussion?
8. How is God’s sovereignty displayed in this passage?
9. What does letting go of false gods and trusting theLord look like in your life? Be specific.
