Wycombe Labour Party

Dear Colleague I am very pleased to welcome you to the Wycombe Labour Party and provide a few details about our organisation. In the last few months our local Party has more than doubled and we now have over 600 members and registered supporters . Our Members Meetings are held once a month at Hilltop Community Centre, Crest Road, Cressex, High Wycombe HP11 1UA every third Thursday (except August) at 8.00pm they are open to all members and I hope that it will be possible for you to attend. The Wycombe Labour Party has two Branches, Eastern and Western. They discuss a wide range of political and social issues, receive the reports of Labour Councillors, consider matters particular to the community they represent and select candidates for local elections. Depending where you live you will belong to either the Western, or Eastern Branch. Enclosed in this pack are the contact details for your Branch but your Branch Secretary will be in touch with you. There are many ways to get involved in the Party and we are always open to new ideas and methods for engaging and communicating with the public. As well as becoming candidates, helping during election campaigns, leafleting, canvassing and there are several positions and jobs which are also crucial to the running of the Party. We also from time to time establish policy groups to plan our campaigns on issues such as Housing, Health and Education. Please contact me, if you would like to offer your services to the Party. Most correspondence is done through email, but if this is unavailable to you or sets you a problem, please let us know and we will post although posting is expensive. This pack includes: Contact Details, “Who’s Who” of Party Members, meeting dates and donation forms. Again, let me welcome you to Wycombe Labour. I look forward to meeting you and hope you will be able to attend future meetings. Riaz Ahmed Chairman Wycombe Labour Party

Some of the ways that you can help

1. Join our local campaigns. During the last year we have campaigned against the unfair cut in tax

credit, the NHS has been a major concern, and we have argued against the selection system that blights

the educational chances of the majority of our children. Our members were active in support of a

remain vote in the EU Referendum and we are planning future campaigning activity.

2. Support your local party. Offer to deliver a few leaflets in your street or collecting petition signatures outside busy shopping centres. Join Labour Party members and supporters manning the street stall in High Wycombe.

3. Speak to your friends. If every member gave ten friends a reason to vote Labour, we would reach thousands of voters.

4. Talk to your Branch about getting a campaign going We can use a range of tools and resources on offer from the National Party. We can download petitions, graphics, logos and fonts at members.labour.org.uk/campaign-resources

P.S. Don’t forget to share your campaign photos on Twitter and Facebook.

Follow us on Twitter: @labour4wycombe Like us on Facebook: facebook.com/the wycombelabourparty

5. Share policy ideas online at your britain.org.uk

7. Sign up to the Labour Party web site ‘Membersnet’ which gives you information about campaigning, training and activities.

Message from the Treasurer

Dear New Member

Its great that we have so many new members, so many in fact that our systems have found it hard to

cope. In Wycombe our membership has grown to over 600 members and registered supporters. Every

one is welcome, it is your Labour Party and we look forward to your active involvement.

My job as Treasurer, which I have done for many years, is making sure that we have the money to fight

national and local elections. Every penny that we spend on Parliamentary, County and District elections

has to be raised locally, it’s a costly business.

Leaflets, meeting rooms and all the other activities necessary to get over our message costs money.

That’s why we encourage our members to make a donation to the local Party through a regular Standing

Order. We have no rich donors our funds come from the small amounts that our members are able to

contribute. Just a few £ a month ensures that we can put up a good fight at election time.

I hope that you can help—if you can please complete the standing order form enclosed with this pack

and return it to me, my address is on the form.

Many thanks

Molly Fowler
